Eduardo Tait Helps Cedar Rapids to Victory in Game 2

Minnesota Twins catching prospect Eduardo Tait helped High-A Cedar Rapids to a 5-3 playoff victory over High-A Beloit (Miami) on Thursday, going 2-for-3 with a walk and a pair of doubles, driving in two runs and scoring twice in the contest. The win evened the series at one game apiece in the best-of-three series, with the winner headed to the Midwest League championship. Tait was a big riser in the prospect ranks this year, debuting at No. 93 overall and now sitting at No. 52. The Panamanian backstop began the season at Single-A in the Philadelphia organization, coming to the Twins in the Jhoan Duran trade, and moved to High-A in late July. The 19-year-old got going in late August, hitting .281 over his final 14 games, which included seven multi-hit efforts. Look for the Twins' second-ranked prospect to test the upper levels of the minors next season, and the offensive-minded catcher should be monitored in dynasty leagues.

Eduardo Tait Hitting His Stride in High-A

Minnesota Twins second overall prospect and MLB's 54th overall prospect, Eduardo Tait, has found his stride in High-A for the Cedar Rapids Kernels. The Twins acquired Tait in exchange for right-hander Jhoan Duran at the trade deadline, and he is currently on a four-game hitting streak, going 5-for-16 (.312) and is slashing .252/.313/.429 with 14 homeruns, 51 runs scored, and 66 RBI across 431 plate appearances on the season. While he is still currently in High-A, should he continue to impress, he could spend most of 2026 and 2027 in Double-A and Triple-A before being promoted to the majors sometime in 2028. Tait is a power-hitting catcher with good athleticism and is viewed as one of the organization's top prospects.

Eduardo Tait a Big Riser in Latest Prospect Ranks

Minnesota Twins catching prospect Eduardo Tait was a big riser on MLB.com's August refresh of their top prospects list, moving up 39 spots from No. 93 to No. 54. The Panamanian backstop was recently acquired by the Twins in the trade that sent closer Jhoan Duran to the Phillies and now slots in as the Twins' second-ranked prospect. The 18-year-old is hitting .254 on the year with 12 home runs in 90 games between the two organizations, striking out at a better-than-average rate of 18.8 percent, and is so young that he could grow into even more power. He's still a few years away from the majors, though, so his progress should be monitored as he could end up as an offensive-minded catcher in the big leagues.

Eduardo Tait Moving to Minnesota in Deadline Deal

The Minnesota Twins acquired catching prospect Eduardo Tait and right-hander Mick Abel from the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday in exchange for closer Jhoan Duran, according to Bob Nightengale of USA TODAY Sports. Tait was considered the Phillies' No. 4 prospect, per MLB Pipeline. He's only 18 years old but was promoted to High-A Jersey Shore this year after hitting .251/.322/.436 with 11 home runs, 51 RBI and 41 runs scored in 75 games for Single-A Clearwater to begin the 2025 campaign. The Panamanian backstop had appeared in only seven contests at Jersey Shore, going 8-for-27 (.296) with three doubles and six RBI. The left-handed hitter stands at 6-foot, 175 pounds finds the barrel consistently and uses all fields as a hitter. Tait is more of a work in progress with the glove, though, and he probably won't be a realitic big-league option in Minnesota for another couple of years. UPDATE: Tait will head to Single-A Cedar Rapids.

Eduardo Tait Heading to High-A Jersey Shore

Philadelphia Phillies catching prospect Eduardo Tait is getting promoted to High-A Jersey Shore. The Phils' fourth-ranked prospect was having a solid season at Single-A before his promotion, slashing .251/.322/.436 with 11 home runs and 51 RBI, both of which were tops in the Florida State League. The left-handed slugger also logged a 19.3 percent strikeout rate and a 9.0 percent walk rate, both of which are slightly better than average. Impressively, the Panamanian did all that at just 18 years of age, so it will be interesting to see how he fares at the next level. He figures to be a few years away from an MLB debut, however.

Eduardo Tait Continues to Hit at Low-A

Philadelphia Phillies catching prospect Eduardo Tait has continued to enjoy a strong season with Low-A Clearwater. Through his first eight games in July, the No. 7-ranked catcher in minor leagues on MLB.com has held a .241/.333/414 line with two doubles, a home run, and seven RBI. Through 73 total games, the No. 4-ranked prospect in Philadelphia has held a .254/.328/.445 line with 19 doubles, a triple, and 11 home runs. He has yet to swipe a bag and has posted a solid 64:30 K:BB. Last summer, Tait received a brief look at the Low-A level and held a similar .269/.316/.462 slash line with five doubles and five home runs across 28 games. If Tait can continue to show improvements at Low-A, he should be in the mix to join High-A later in the second half.

Eduardo Tait Continues to Show Power

Philadelphia Phillies catching prospect Eduardo Tait has continued to hit for power during his second stint with Low-A Clearwater. During this first game of a doubleheader on Thursday, Tait went 2-for-3 with a double and a home run. Over his last 14 contests, the young backstop has held an impressive .352/.413/.611 slash line with five doubles and three home runs. Through 46 total games this season, the No. 4-ranked prospect in the system (and No. 76 in the sport) has posted a strong .286/.340/.514 line with 13 doubles and nine long balls. Last summer, Tait held a .269/.316/.462 line during his first stint with Low-A and hit just five home runs. If Tait continues to hit for power at Low-A, fantasy managers should expect him to reach High-A later this season.

Eduardo Tait Heating Up At Low-A

Philadelphia Phillies catching prospect Eduardo Tait is beginning to heat up at Low-A. On Thursday, the No. 4-ranked prospect in the system went 3-for-5 with a triple and an RBI. Over his last nine contests, the 18-year-old backstop has held an impressive .308/.317/.590 slash line with three doubles, one triple, and two long balls. During this stretch, Tait has tallied eight RBI and held a 10:1 K:BB. Through the first 24 games of the Low-A regular season, the No. 90-ranked prospect in the sport on MLB.com held a solid .265/.315/.531 slash line. Given his current production, fantasy managers should expect Tait to be in contention to reach High-A in the coming weeks. While he remains several seasons away from his MLB debut, he could develop into one of the top catching prospects in the sport.

Phillies Reward Eduardo Tait With Promotion

After a strong performance in the Florida Complex League, the Philadelphia Phillies will promote catcher Eduardo Tait to Single-A Clearwater. Tait, 17, has hit .321 with six homers and 49 RBI over 184 at-bats in Rookie Ball. The left-handed hitter out of Panama makes good contact at the plate at such a young age and should continue to improve his power as his body fills out. In his debut season, Tait threw out 44% of attempted baserunners, making it clear that he is likely to remain a backstop throughout his career. At such a young age, Tait doesn't need to be rostered in any format, but it wouldn't hurt dynasty managers to keep tabs on Tait.

Eduardo Tait Has Big Day At Plate

Philadelphia Phillies catcher prospect Eduardo Tait had a big performance in Rookie Ball on Monday. The backstop went 2-for-5 with a pair of homers and five RBI. His big performance marked the first time that the 17-year-old has gone yard multiple times in a game. Per MLB Pipeline, Tait is the clubs No. 8 prospect, but offers big potential that could help him rise up the ranks. Tait swings the bat from the left side of the plate and has a good feel for making hard contact and barreling the ball. His body is still growing, but scouts believe that he'll have some good pop in his bat as his body matures. Tait is years away from a potential debut and a watch-list name for dynasty league managers at the moment.
