Will Vest Earns Save On Friday

Detroit Tigers relief pitcher Will Vest was called upon to hold a one-run lead against the Texas Rangers on Friday. The Tigers elected to use Tommy Kahnle in the eighth inning and give Vest the final frame in this game. Vest was getting more save chances earlier in the season, but this was his first chance this month. He was able to throw a scoreless inning and strike out one batter as he recorded his fourth save of the season. He has been excellent with a 2.12 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, and 19/7 K/BB ratio across 17 innings of work this season. He isn't a must-have fantasy option because he's not the primary closer, but Vest has been putting up good numbers this season.

Will Vest Collects Third Save

Detroit Tigers relief pitcher Will Vest was called upon in the eighth inning to hold a one-run lead against the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday. The right-hander struck out two batters over 1.1 scoreless innings to record his third save of the season. Vest has tossed an impressive 11 straight scoreless innings as he's looking like the best option in the Tigers bullpen right now. He holds a 0.75 ERA, 0.58 WHIP, and 14/4 K/BB ratio across 12 innings this season. Vest is worth snagging in fantasy formats where saves matter as he appears to be the top closer option right now.

Will Vest Picks Up Save On Monday

Detroit Tigers right-hander Will Vest tossed a scoreless ninth inning to wrap up a 6-4 win over the San Diego Padres on Monday. Vest did not allow any baserunners while picking up one strikeout on two swinging strikes to earn the save. The veteran reliever now has a 1-0 record, 0.93 ERA, 0.62 WHIP, two saves, and 10 strikeouts over 9 2/3 innings of work. Vest has been one of the top relievers in baseball in the early going, but he remains No. 2 in line for save chances behind veteran Tommy Kahnle. That being said, his low ERA and WHIP still give him some fantasy value in deeper leagues that count holds.

Will Vest Leaves With Trainer On Monday

Detroit Tigers right-hander Will Vest left his appearance early with an apparent injury on Monday night. During the second inning, Vest replaced starter Matthew Boyd, who also left with a suspected injury. Vest was able to get three outs on three strikeouts while allowing one hit. He wound up leaving the game with two outs in the second inning after getting visited by a Detroit trainer on the mound. Vest was replaced in the game by Mason Englert. Look for the Tigers to update Vest's status by the conclusion of Monday's game.

Will Vest Placed On Paternity List

The Detroit Tigers placed reliever Will Vest on the paternity list on Thursday. Vest is currently with his wife. The couple has welcomed a son named Bennett. The 27-year-old has been one of the Tigers' top relievers this season. Across 30 appearances, he's pitched to a 3.41 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP. He's maintained a 26.6% strikeout rate to go along with a 3.4 K/BB ratio. With the Tigers sitting at 38-56, there's a good chance that a few relievers are sold by the team prior to the trade deadline. Vest would need both Gregory Soto and Michael Fulmer to be traded in order for him to have a chance at a ninth inning role.

Will Vest Activated From COVID-19 List

The Detroit Tigers activated relief pitcher Will Vest from the COVID-19 injured list on Tuesday. The move was made after the first game of the team's doubleheader against the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday, so Vest will be available for Game 2 of the set. Fellow relief pitcher Drew Carlton was optioned to Triple-A to clear a roster spot for Vest. Vest has been fantastic out of the pen for the Tigers this year. Over 17 innings, he's pitched to a 2.12 ERA and a 0.65 WHIP to go along with a 5.5 K/BB ratio. He's someone worth watching as a potential saves source for the team should Gregory Soto's struggles continue.

Will Vest Clears COVID Protocols, Rejoins Team Thursday

Detroit Tigers pitcher Will Vest (illness) rejoined the team on Thursday after clearing the league's COVID-19 health and safety protocols. He will ramp up his activity and pitch in a rehab game before returning to Detroit's bullpen. The 26-year-old is 1-for-1 in save opportunities while posting a 2.12 ERA, 0.65 WHIP and a 22:4 K:BB across 17 innings in 2022. Fantasy managers should continue to roster Vest in deep-league formats, as he could see some save chances if Detroit's primary closer, Gregory Soto, falters.

Will Vest Tests Positive For COVID-19

Detroit Tigers relief pitcher Will Vest (illness) tested positive for COVID-19 and he has been placed on the COVID-19 injured list. The 26-year-old has been one of the team's best relievers out of the gate this year. Across 17 innings on the season, he's pitched to a 2.12 ERA and a 0.65 WHIP. He has an elite 36.7% strikeout rate (96th percentile) and he's walked a total of just four batters. There's a chance we'll see him earn some high leverage work including save chances at some point after he returns from the COVID-19 injured list. For now, however, Gregory Soto remains the team's primary closer.

Will Vest Notches First Career Save On Friday

Detroit Tigers pitcher Will Vest struck out two over 2/3 of a scoreless inning to earn the save during Friday's 4-2 win over the Baltimore Orioles. Gregory Soto entered the ninth inning to protect a two-run lead. The 27-year-old plunked back-to-back batters, struck out one-hitter, and a walk that put the tying run on second base. Manager A.J. Hinch pulled Soto from the game for Vest, who struck out both batters he faced to earn his first career save. Vest has been efficient this season, posting 1.17 ERA, 0.46 WHIP, and a 20:3 K: BB across 15 1/3 innings. Fantasy managers should look to add Vest in all league formats as the right-hander could be Detroit's primary closer moving forward if Soto continues to struggle.

Will Vest Reinstated From COVID List

Seattle Mariners relief pitcher Will Vest was reinstated from the COVID list prior to Saturday evening's game. He takes relief pitcher Erik Swanson's spot on the roster, as Swanson was placed on the injured list himself. Vest, added by the Mariners in the Rule 5 draft, has been decently effective out of the bullpen despite a 4.22 ERA in 21 1/3 innings for the year. In the wide-open Seattle relief picture, he figures to get the occasional save or hold, but he isn't worth rostering in any fantasy formats.
