Dolphins Place Salvon Ahmed On Non-Football Injury List

The Miami Dolphins placed running back Salvon Ahmed (foot) on the Non-Football Injury list on Thursday. Ahmed served in a backup role in Miami's backfield last year before suffering a season-ending foot injury in November. The 25-year-old now won't be ready to take part in practices for the start of training camp next week. When healthy, he's in line to be the team's RB4 behind Raheem Mostert, De'Von Achane and rookie Jaylen Wright, so Ahmed isn't going to be a fantasy option in the vast majority of leagues. In mostly a pass-catching role in 2023, he caught a career-high 16 passes for 88 yards and one touchdown while adding 22 rushing attempts for 61 yards and another score in eight regular-season games for the Dolphins.

Salvon Ahmed Goes On Injured Reserve

Miami Dolphins running back Salvon Ahmed (foot) was placed on Injured Reserve on Tuesday with a foot injury that he suffered in the Week 11 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. He'll now be forced to miss at least the next four games. In a corresponding move, the Dolphins promoted wide receiver Robbie Chosen from the practice squad to the active roster. Miami's backfield is suddenly short-handed with rookie De'Von Achane (knee) also aggravating a knee injury that landed him on Injured Reserve from Weeks 6-9. Achane's injury isn't believed to be serious, but fantasy managers looking for running back help may want to consider adding Jeff Wilson Jr. off the waiver wire heading into Week 12 action. Raheem Mostert remains the team's lead back. Ahmed scored his first receiving touchdown of the year on Sunday with Achane hurt and Wilson a healthy scratch.

Salvon Ahmed Finds The End Zone In Week 11

Miami Dolphins running back Salvon Ahmed scored his second touchdown of the year in the 20-13 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 11. Originally, Ahmed was set to be the third option in the backfield until De'Von Achane (knee) left the game and didn't return. He took full advantage as he collected six yards on three carries while catching three passes for 25 yards and a score. Ahmed most likely helped fantasy managers with their DFS lineups rather than fantasy leagues as he's still too hard to trust and will take on a better defense in Week 12 against the New York Jets.

Salvon Ahmed Back In The Mix In The Miami Backfield

Miami Dolphins running back Salvon Ahmed (groin/coach's decision) is practicing in full this week as he prepares to make his return to the gameday roster. The fourth-year back missed time with a groin injury but was a healthy scratch in Week 5, largely due to the emergence of rookie De'Von Achane. Achane (knee) is now on injured reserve, opening the door for Ahmed to return to the backup role. Veteran Jeff Wilson Jr. (ribs/finger) is in his 21-day practice window to be elevated off of injured reserve. He logged a limited practice on Wednesday. If Wilson isn't ready for game action, Ahmed will likely serve as the second option behind starter Raheem Mostert.

Salvon Ahmed, Terron Armstead Active For Week 4

Miami Dolphins running back Salvon Ahmed (groin) and left tackle Terron Armstead (back, ankle, or knee) are active for Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills. Both players had been listed as questionable. Ahmed missed Week 3 and seemingly lost his backup job to De'Von Achane. On the other hand, Armstead is suiting up for a second consecutive game and will provide key protection for Tua Tagovailoa, Raheem Mostert, and Achane.

Salvon Ahmed "Progressing"

Miami Dolphins running back Salvon Ahmed (groin) is "progressing," according to head coach Mike McDaniel. The Dolphins plan on putting Ahmed through some drills at practice on Wednesday to see how he responds. He'll likely be listed as limited on the official injury report, but it's good news for the 24-year-old after he was inactive for the record-breaking Week 3 win over the Denver Broncos on Sunday. After rookie De'Von Achane broke out to the tune of four touchdowns in the 70-20 win, Ahmed will surely be No. 3 on the RB totem pole if he's able to play this weekend in a divisional matchup against the Buffalo Bills. As long as Achane and Raheem Mostert are healthy, Ahmed is off the fantasy radar.

Salvon Ahmed Officially Inactive Sunday

Miami Dolphins running back Salvon Ahmed (groin) is officially inactive for Week 3 versus the Denver Broncos. This comes as no surprise after the Dolphins listed him as doubtful heading into the weekend. Rookie De'Von Achane will operate as the No. 2 option behind Raheem Mostert but isn't a viable fantasy starter.

Salvon Ahmed Doubtful For Week 3 Against Denver

Miami Dolphins running back Salvon Ahmed (groin) has been listed as doubtful for Sunday's Week 3 game against the Denver Broncos. The fourth-year running back injured his groin during the Week 2 win over the New England Patriots and didn't log a practice this week. He has been serving as starting running back Raheem Mostert's backup so far this season but if he doesn't end up playing, which is highly likely, then that role would go to rookie De'Von Achane. Ahmed hasn't seen much action (six carries for 24 yards, three catches for 28 yards) while working as the backup but Achane, who is a more dynamic player, would likely see more volume in that role on Sunday.

Salvon Ahmed Misses Another Practice

Miami Dolphins running back Salvon Ahmed (groin) missed a second straight day of practice on Thursday. Ahmed is trending in the wrong direction to play in the Week 3 contest at home against the Denver Broncos after he suffered a groin injury in the Week 2 Sunday night win over the New England Patriots. Raheem Mostert ran for over 100 yards and two touchdowns and is the clear lead back in Miami, but if Ahmed misses this Sunday's game, rookie De'Von Achane would be in line for a bigger role as Mostert's primary backup. Jeff Wilson Jr. (abdomen) remains on Injured Reserve and will be forced to miss at least two more games. Ahmed has only six carries for 24 yards and three catches for 28 yards in two games so far in 2023.

Salvon Ahmed Exits Sunday's Win With Groin Injury

Miami Dolphins running back Salvon Ahmed (groin) left Sunday's 24-17 win over the New England Patriots early due to a groin issue. The 24-year-old did not return to play following the second-quarter injury, ultimately recording three carries for 13 yards and three receptions for an additional 28 yards before exiting. De'Von Achane, making his NFL debut, turned two touches into nine yards in the contest, but he could be thrust into a role of greater importance if Ahmed's absence extends past Week 2. Raheem Mostert has functioned as Miami's workhorse back without Jeff Wilson Jr. (ribs, finger) and could be leaned on even further after gathering 121 yards on 18 carries in Sunday's victory if Achane isn't ready to handle a more intense workload.
