Vegas Golden Knights center Jack Eichel registered a goal and an assist in Monday's 5-2 defeat to Carolina. He bagged an even-strength goal at the start of the third period and delivered a power-play assist in the final minute of play. This was Eichel's third consecutive multi-point effort. A haul of eight points in three games has pushed his season's tally to 24 points (five goals, 18 assists). Through 15 outings, Eichel has been kept off the score sheet only three times. Colorado's Nathan MacKinnon and Minnesota's Kirill Kaprizov are the only players with more points than Vegas' American star.

Buffalo Sabres defenseman Mattias Samuelsson (lower body) was limited to 6:49 of ice time in Monday's 7-5 loss to Montreal. He was back in the lineup after sitting out three games as a healthy scratch, but unfortunately, Samuelsson's day at the office was very brief. The Swedish rearguard has managed one goal, 15 shots, 14 blocks, and 23 hits in 13 appearances this season. Henri Jokiharju and Dennis Gilbert are the candidates to step in for Samuelsson if he can't play on Thursday versus St. Louis.

Kaprizov entered Sunday's action off the back of two consecutive three-point outings on away ice. Minnesota now heads home for a pair of games, but Kaprizov likely can't wait for the next road trip. Out of his 28 points this season, 21 have been scored in road games.

Chicago Blackhawks goaltender Petr Mrazek had a strong outing against the Minnesota Wild on Sunday, kicking away 31 of 32 shots in a 2-1 overtime win. The Czech netminder came very close to his first shutout of the campaign, as Matt Boldy scored for Minnesota with only 4:31 left in regulation. The red-hot Wild were limited to fewer than three goals for only the fourth time this season. Mrazek has picked up some form lately but has been flipping between wins and losses for six starts. He has taken his record to 5-7-0 and boasts a 2.85 goals-against average with a .905 save percentage. These are good numbers from Mrazek, but he's carrying a losing record because the team offense struggles. There are only five teams in the league averaging fewer goals than Chicago.

San Jose Sharks goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood found an answer to all 44 shots the New Jersey Devils generated against him on Sunday, producing his first shutout of the season in a 1-0 win. Blackwood, a former Devil, improved to 3-4-2 for the season. Life on the Sharks roster tends to be difficult for goalies, but Blackwood has made it look easy lately. All of his three wins have come in his last four starts. Blackwood's goals-against average stands at 3.10, and he has recorded a .910 save percentage. The 27-year-old shares the net with Vitek Vanecek in San Jose and will likely get the night off against Philadelphia on Monday.

Gibson sat out the first month of action due to an appendectomy. With Gibson out of commission, Lukas Dostal has carried a heavy workload. Dostal started the campaign in wonderful form but has lost momentum lately. It will be interesting to see how the goaltending situation in Anaheim unfolds. The Ducks also have veteran James Reimer in their ranks.

Before getting hurt, McTavish had just built up good momentum with a three-game point streak. He has totaled eight points (two goals, six assists) in 13 appearances for the season. Isac Lundestrom has a chance to play a larger role with McTavish out of the lineup. However, he is not a viable fantasy option.
