Jake Oettinger Backstops Stars To Victory Versus Jets

Dallas Stars goaltender Jake Oettinger put in an impressive performance against the Jets on Sunday, finishing a 3-1 victory with 26 saves. Oettinger was beaten by Adam Lowry early on, but he was then perfect with his work for the rest of the way, improving to 9-1-0 on home ice. Oettinger's overall record now stands at 13-4-0. He has allowed 2.38 goals while registering a .915 save percentage with one shutout. The Stars No. 1 is providing excellent fantasy value for managers again. We should see Casey DeSmith between the sticks Monday night versus Utah, with Oettinger likely returning to work on Wednesday against the Kings, who are riding a three-game winning streak.

Kent Johnson Remains Hot In Sunday's Win

Columbus Blue Jackets forward Kent Johnson found the back of the net once in Sunday's 6-3 win over Chicago, giving him a nine-game point streak. The scoring run is stretched across three months because Johnson missed 14 games with a shoulder injury. Ryan Johansen is the only player in Blue Jackets history to have a longer personal point streak at the start of a season with 10 games. Johnson's work includes six goals and six assists. He operates on the second line and the first power-play unit. Four of Johnson's 12 points have come with the man advantage, while he's also produced two short-handed points.

Charlie McAvoy Pots Two Goals As Bruins Cruise Past Canadiens

Boston Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy provided two goals in Sunday's big 6-3 win over Montreal. His second of the game came in a short-handed situation, and McAvoy added four shots, three blocks, and two hits to his tally with a plus-four rating across 23:00 of action. This was possibly the best outing of the season for McAvoy, who has been slumping all year offensively. He's only now hit double figures for scoring, producing five goals and five assists in 26 games. Entering Sunday's action, McAvoy wasn't even Boston's highest-scoring defenseman, with Mason Lohrei on nine points. He's finished in and around the 50-point mark in three consecutive campaigns, but McAvoy needs to up his scoring pace massively to get there in 2024-25.

Brady Tkachuk Scores Twice In Shootout Loss

Ottawa Senators forward Brady Tkachuk had two goals on a game-high 12 shots in Sunday's 4-3 shootout loss to Anaheim. He potted a power-play goal in the first period and an even-strength goal in the second. With the effort, Tkachuk extended his point streak to five games. The prolific spell includes three multi-point outings, giving Tkachuk four goals and four assists during the stretch. The Senators captain will look to match his season-best point streak in the next matchup against Detroit. He will enter the action with 13 goals and 28 points scored for the season in 25 games.

Troy Terry  • RW  •  Ducks

Troy Terry Amasses Three Assists In Victory Over Senators

Anaheim Ducks right wing Troy Terry recorded three assists and scored in the shootout as the team beat Ottawa 4-3 on home ice Sunday. Terry assisted Frank Vatrano on two goals, including once on the power play, and linked up with Vatrano to help Jackson LaCombe get a goal. Terry's night included a whopping nine shots on goal. Despite being very active in front of the net, Terry failed to register a goal, but that has been the story of his season. He's netted just six times with 57 shots on goal. Luckily for fantasy managers, Terry has been a steady source for assists, particularly in recent games. The 27-year-old has put together a four-game point streak with seven assists. He's got 13 assists and 19 points in 23 games for the campaign.

Lucas Raymond Extends Point Streak To Career-Best Seven Games

Detroit Red Wings winger Lucas Raymond extended his point streak to a career-best seven games in Sunday's 5-4 overtime defeat against Vancouver. He finished the contest with two helpers, dishing out one assist on the power play. The Swedish forward was also desperate to extend a five-game goal streak and produced a game-high six shots. Raymond has recorded five goals and four assists during his hot spell. He's on track to average a point per game for the first time in his career, sitting on seven goals and 18 assists with 24 games played.

Quinn Hughes Breaks Canucks' Assists Record

Vancouver Canucks defenseman Quinn Hughes became the franchise's leader in assists among blue-liners with three helpers in Sunday's 5-4 overtime win against Detroit. He moved past Alexander Edler, reaching 313 assists for his career. Two of the assists came on the power play. Hughes sits among the league's most prolific defensemen and has been on a tear in recent games. The American star has tallied nine points (one goal, eight assists) in his past four appearances. Colorado's Cale Makar continues to top the defensemen scoring list, but Hughes isn't far behind anymore. He has produced 28 points (five goals, 23 assists) in 23 appearances.

Jake DeBrusk Caps Off Four-Point Performance With Game-Winner

Vancouver Canucks winger Jake DeBrusk had a field day against Detroit on Sunday, completing a 5-4 overtime win with three goals and one assist. After scoring a pair of power-play goals early in the second period, DeBrusk finished off his second career hat trick with the game-winner in overtime. He has now scored in four of the past five games, taking over the team lead in goal-scoring with 10 markers. DeBrusk has added nine assists across 23 outings. The 28-year-old is currently among the league's hottest goal-scorers, and fantasy managers should check if he's available in their league.

Kevin Lankinen Earns Historic Win On Sunday

Vancouver Canucks goaltender Kevin Lankinen continued his outstanding start to the season with another victory on Sunday against Detroit, setting a league record in the process. The 29-year-old became the first goalie in NHL history to win each of his first 10 road outings in a season. Lankinen has been in good form but needed quite a bit of help from the team this time, as the Canucks barely snuck past Detroit 5-4 in overtime. With Thatcher Demko (knee) on the shelf for the start of the season, Vancouver looked to have been in trouble, but Lankinen has held down the fort superbly, going 12-3-2 for the campaign. He has allowed 2.65 goals with a .907 save percentage and two shutouts. Demko is getting close to his season debut, but Lankinen's good play should guarantee him further opportunities in the Canucks crease.

Hampus Lindholm Remains "Weeks" Away From Returning

Boston Bruins defenseman Hampus Lindholm (lower body) isn't close to returning to action. Per Conor Ryan of The Boston Globe, Bruins head coach Joe Sacco said on Sunday that Lindholm is still "weeks" away from making a comeback. Boston lost Lindholm on Nov. 12 against St. Louis. He led the Bruins blue line in scoring early in the year, posting seven points (three goals, four assists) in 17 outings. Lindholm's absence has boosted Mason Lohrei's fantasy stock. He's seen more action without him in the lineup, taking over the scoring lead among Bruins defensemen with eight points (one goal, seven assists).

Nick Leddy Joins Blues For Road Trip

St. Louis Blues defenseman Nick Leddy (lower body) will travel with the team for a four-game road trip and is expected to return to action soon. The Blues have their first stop in Winnipeg on Tuesday and won't be back home until Dec. 12. Leddy hasn't played since Oct. 15, making only four appearances this season. He averaged over 22 minutes of ice time early in the campaign. Ryan Suter has been skating on the first defensive pairing during Leddy's absence and may have a lighter workload once he returns to the lineup.

Cam Talbot  • G  •  Red Wings

Cam Talbot Hurt On Sunday

Detroit Red Wings goaltender Cam Talbot (lower body) was forced to make an early exit in Sunday's 5-4 overtime loss to Vancouver. He suffered a lower-body injury in the second period. Talbot stopped 12 of 14 shots in the game. Ville Husso made 15 saves on 18 shots after replacing Talbot. The Red Wings are already without Alex Lyon (lower body) and might face a goalie crisis if Talbot also has to miss additional time. Ville Husso, who has struggled badly since last season, would then get the bulk of the action. Detroit returns to the ice on Tuesday versus Boston.

Josh Manson  • D  •  Avalanche

Josh Manson Considered Week-To-Week

Colorado Avalanche defenseman Josh Manson (upper body) will be out week-to-week. He has already missed one game, sitting out his first action of the season Saturday versus Edmonton. Manson's absence will mostly be felt in the physical part of the game, as he leads Colorado with 51 hits. Offensively, he has tallied six points (one goal, five assists) in 24 appearances. John Ludvig took Manson's spot on the third defensive pairing on Saturday, logging 12:57 of ice time. He finished scoreless with two shots, one block, two hits, two penalty minutes, and a minus-one rating.

Miles Wood Out Month-To-Month

Colorado Avalanche left wing Miles Wood (upper body) is considered month-to-month. Wood was placed on Injured Reserve with an upper-body injury on Thursday, and he apparently faces an extended absence. The 29-year-old has been out of the lineup for two games already. Wood works in the bottom six for Colorado and has registered three points (two goals, one assist) in 16 games this season. Chris Wagner has replaced Wood in the lineup, but he doesn't offer anything to fantasy managers.

John Carlson  • D  •  Capitals

John Carlson Tallies Three Assists On Saturday

Washington Capitals defenseman John Carlson tallied three helpers during Saturday's victory over the New Jersey Devils. One of Carlson's assists came on the power-play. In this game, the 34-year-old also tallied five shots on goal with one block. This extended Carlson's current point streak to three games. Through November, Carlson tallied 11 points (1 goal, ten helpers) in 15 games. Overall, he has tallied 19 points through 24 games this season with 41 blocks, 62 shots, and 22 hits. Given his stable production in all standard categories and consistently seeing top minutes, John Carlson remains a must-start option in all formats and a solid pick in DFS, given his role in the Washington lineup.

Kris Letang  • D  •  Penguins

Kris Letang Busy On Saturday

Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Kris Letang tallied a goal and two assists during Saturday's commanding victory over the Calgary Flames. All three of Letang's points came on the man-advantage. His goal came on off a slap shot in the final frame. Letang also registered two hits and one block in this contest as well. This was the 37-year-old's first three-point showing of the season and only his third time finding the back of the net. This was also his first time getting back on the scoresheet since November 8. While the veteran defenseman has disappointed this season, fantasy managers in deeper formats should continue to hold onto him as he still sees top-pairing minutes and provides a solid amount of blocks (15 in 11 games in November). In addition, fantasy managers should expect his scoring to slowly return as he has tallied at least 40+ points in each campaign since 2018.

Michael Bunting  • LW  •  Penguins

Michael Bunting Tallies Goal, Two Helpers On Saturday

Pittsburgh Penguins left wing Michael Bunting tallied a goal and two assists in their victory over the Calgary Flames on Saturday evening. Bunting tallied the secondary assist on Anthony Beauvillier's opening goal. Later in the second, Bunting would find the back of the net on the power-play and then tally another assist on Philip Tomasino's eventual game-winning power-play strike. This was a nice breakthrough outing for Bunting, as he had gone scoreless over his previous three games and tallied just six points in November before Saturday. Fantasy managers in deeper formats should continue to hold on to Bunting as he has shown upside on the power-play (three PPG in November) and has usually continued to see top-9 minutes.

Ilya Sorokin  • G  •  Islanders

Ilya Sorokin Posts First Shutout Of The Season

New York Islanders goaltender Ilya Sorokin stopped all 29 shots he faced en route to defeating the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday evening. The Islanders were slightly outshot in this contest, but Sorokin was able to lead the way and snap their three-game skid. This was a great bounce-back for the Russian netminder as he allowed a season-high five goals in his previous start on November 27 against the Boston Bruins. In total, the 29-year-old has posted a solid .915% SV and a 2.52 GAA with a 6-6-3 overall record. Fantasy managers should continue to expect Sorokin to split time with Semyon Varlamov. However, Varlamov surrendered eight goals over his previous two outings, which could open the door for Sorokin to see a more significant majority of the starts going forward.

Auston Matthews Tallies Two Assists In Return

Toronto Maple Leafs center Auston Matthews tallied two helpers in his return on Saturday evening. The captain missed the previous nine contests with an upper-body injury. However, the superstar looked sharp in his return, tallying two points to lead Toronto to victory. His first assist came on the opening goal by Matthew Knies. Later in the third, Matthews would register the primary assist on William Nylander's empty-net goal to clinch the victory. Before his injury, Matthews tallied five goals and six helpers across 13 games with four power-play points. Fantasy managers should expect the former top overall pick to remain a fantasy star for the remainder of the season, especially from a scoring standpoint, playing on the top unit alongside Matthew Knies and William Nylander.

Nick Schmaltz Ends Scoring Drought On Saturday

Utah Hockey Club right wing Nick Schmaltz found the back of the net twice during Saturday's victory over the Utah Hockey Club. Schmaltz's first tally was in the opening frame off a wrist shot. Later in the second, the 28-year-old tallied a power-play goal to extend their lead. In addition, he also logged five shots on goal. These were Schmaltz's first two tallies of the campaign. Entering this game, he had registered just 17 helpers across 23 contests. Despite him just ending his scoring drought on Saturday, fantasy managers should continue to view him as a steady fantasy producer, given his role in the Utah top-6 and No.1 power-play unit. Schmaltz will look to stay hot on Monday when he faces the Dallas Stars.
