Tim Stutzle Matches Team Germany Record With Third Goal

Ottawa Senators forward Tim Stutzle scored Germany's third goal in Saturday's 4-3 defeat to Latvia at the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympic Games. It was his third goal of the tournament, matching a Team Germany record for a single Olympic edition featuring NHL players. Additionally, the Senators star is tied with Juraj Slafkovsky for the most goals in this year's tournament. Stutzle has needed only eight shots on goal to light the lamp three times, giving him a sky-high 37.5 shooting percentage. The 24-year-old has felt great in front of the net all season and is on track for his first 40-goal campaign in the NHL. Including both club and international games, Stutzle has scored in each of his last seven appearances.

Jack Eichel Off to Hot Start in Olympics

Vegas Golden Knights center Jack Eichel tallied a goal and an assist in Team USA's 6-3 win over Denmark on Saturday. He made his mark inside 57 seconds early in the second period after the Danes had taken a surprising 2-1 lead. Eichel joined an exclusive list of Team USA skaters with back-to-back multi-point games in an Olympic tournament featuring NHL players. He's the seventh player to do so and the first since Patrick Kane, Zach Parise, and Brian Rafalski in 2010. With four points (one goal, three assists), Eichel is tied for fourth in scoring at the tournament. He has one more preliminary-round matchup, as Team USA faces Leon Draisaitl and Germany on Sunday.

Anton Lundell Battling Illness

Florida Panthers center Anton Lundell was unable to play for Team Finland on Saturday against Italy due to illness. He missed a historic game in which Finland set a new scoring record for an Olympic tournament featuring NHL players, winning 11-0. Montreal's Oliver Kapanen also didn't play for Finland, as he's Lundell's roommate at the tournament. With 40 points (16 goals, 24 assists) in 54 appearances, Lundell is having a career year in the NHL this season. He has recorded one goal in two outings at the Olympics. It's unclear whether Lundell and Kapanen will be cleared to rejoin the team for the next game.

Kevin Fiala Out for the Season

Los Angeles Kings left wing Kevin Fiala (leg) suffered a season-ending injury at the 2026 Olympics. After Fiala hurt his left leg against Canada on Friday, Team Switzerland announced the 29-year-old would be out for the rest of the tournament. Unfortunately, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reports that Fiala won't suit up for the Kings this season either after undergoing surgery on Saturday. Fiala ends his fourth campaign in Los Angeles with 40 points (18 goals, 22 assists) in 56 games. While losing Fiala is a major blow for the Kings, the recent acquisition of Artemi Panarin will help offset his absence. The Kings return to work on Feb. 25 against the Vegas Golden Knights.

David Pastrnak Gets Off the Mark at Olympics

Boston Bruins right wing David Pastrnak finished with a goal and an assist as Czechia beat France 6-3 at the Milano Cortina Olympics on Friday. Pastrnak and Czechia were shut out by Team Canada on Thursday, but the offense got going in Friday's game. Only 5:56 into the game, Pastrnak assisted on Martin Necas' power-play goal, and he tied the game at three in the second period after France had scored three quick goals to take the lead. Pastrnak is on track for his fourth consecutive 100-point campaign with the Bruins and is also expected to finish among the top scorers in the Olympics. Next, he will face Team Switzerland on Sunday.

Macklin Celebrini Pots Another Goal Friday

San Jose Sharks center Macklin Celebrini made it two goals in two games at the Olympics on Friday, helping Team Canada to a 5-1 victory over Switzerland. Celebrini potted Canada's third goal early in the second period to make it 3-1, becoming only the third teenager to score in consecutive games in an Olympic tournament featuring NHL players. It's not easy to stand out on a stacked Canada squad, but Celebrini has been one of the leading players on the team. Across the first two games, he has recorded two goals, one assist, six shots, and a plus-four rating.

Kevin Fiala Stretchered Off Against Canada

Los Angeles Kings left wing Kevin Fiala (lower body) left Switzerland's 5-1 loss to Canada on a stretcher on Friday. He appeared to injure his left leg late in the third period during a collision with Canada's Tom Wilson. Fiala, who has posted 40 points (18 goals, 22 assists) in 56 games with the Kings this season, finished scoreless on Friday. He had one assist in Thursday's 4-0 victory over France. This looked like a serious injury, and Fiala was transported to the hospital after the game. His Olympic tournament could be over, and the injury might also prevent him from playing for the Kings when the NHL season resumes.

Jordan Binnington Records 26-Save Shutout Against Czechia

St. Louis Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington started the 2026 Olympics in outstanding form, recording a 26-save shutout in a 5-0 win over Czechia on Thursday. The 32-year-old became only the fourth Team Canada goaltender to post a shutout in an Olympic game featuring NHL players, joining Carey Price, Roberto Luongo, and Patrick Roy. Binnington has struggled with the Blues this season, going 8-17-6 in 30 starts with a 3.65 goals-against average and a .864 save percentage. However, he has a much stronger team in front of him at the Olympic tournament and has always performed well for his country. On Thursday, Binnington improved to 13-4 with Team Canada, recording his third career shutout on the international stage.

Additionally, McDavid produced a game-high six shots on goal, twice as many as any of his teammates. The Oilers captain has been dominant in the NHL for years and looks set to crush it on the international stage as well.

Morrissey has been ever-present for the Jets this season, recording 42 points (10 goals, 32 assists) in 56 appearances. Travis Sanheim, who was a healthy scratch on Thursday, is likely to play in Friday's matchup with Switzerland if Morrissey isn't available. Juuse Saros Starting Wednesday

Nashville Predators goaltender Juuse Saros will start for Finland against Slovakia on Wednesday. William Nylander Iffy for Olympic Opener

Toronto Maple Leafs forward William Nylander (groin) didn't practice on Tuesday and is considered a game-time decision for Sweden's Olympic opener against Italy on Wednesday. Nylander has battled health issues throughout 2026, appearing in only four games for Toronto since the turn of the year. While Team Sweden should easily handle the hosts even without Nylander, it would be a significant blow to the squad if the Maple Leafs star is not at 100 percent at the tournament. Despite playing in only 40 of Toronto's 57 games, Nylander has posted a team-high 52 points (18 goals, 34 assists).

Brad Marchand Good to Go for Olympic Opener

Florida Panthers winger Brad Marchand (undisclosed) is on track to play for Team Canada against Czechia at the Olympics on Thursday. The veteran forward practiced on Sunday, skating on a line with Nathan MacKinnon and Nick Suzuki on a stacked team. Marchand has been banged up this season and played in only five of the Panthers' final 15 games before the Olympic break. Florida has received great production from Marchand when he has been on the ice, as the 37-year-old has tallied 25 goals and 50 points in 46 outings. Marchand could also be a scoring machine for Canada if he sticks with MacKinnon.

After overcoming a career-threatening knee injury, Landeskog has tallied 22 points (seven goals, 15 assists) in 41 games with the Avalanche this season. At Sunday's practice, Landeskog skated on a line with Alexander Wennberg of the San Jose Sharks and Adrian Kempe of the Los Angeles Kings.

On Sunday, Hughes worked on a line with Dylan Larkin and Tage Thompson.

Quinn Hughes Enters Olympics in Red-Hot Form

Minnesota Wild defenseman Quinn Hughes is set to be one of the standout players at the 2026 Olympic tournament. The American blue-liner has been in great form recently, setting a new Wild record for the longest assist streak by a defenseman. Hughes has had at least one helper in 10 consecutive appearances. This has also made him the first defenseman in NHL history with an assist streak of at least 10 games in his first season with a franchise. Thanks to his impressive playmaking ability, Hughes is tied with Tampa Bay's Nikita Kucherov for the longest active point streak in the NHL. Overall, Hughes has tallied 31 assists and 34 points in 26 appearances with the Wild, averaging a massive 28:18 of ice time. He is also set to eat up a lot of ice time on Team USA's blue line, along with Columbus' Zach Werenski and Boston's Charlie McAvoy.

Pavel Zacha Misses Olympics

Boston Bruins forward Pavel Zacha (upper body) will miss the 2026 Olympics. Zacha was on the Czechia roster for the tournament but won't be able to play after sustaining an upper-body injury in late January. Former Ottawa Senators forward Filip Chlapik, who currently plays for HC Sparta Praha in the Czech Extraliga, will replace him on the team. Zacha missed a pair of games for the Bruins due to his injury, and it's unclear whether he will be healthy to play when the NHL season resumes. Boston will return to action on Feb. 26. Zacha has been a key contributor for the team, posting 15 goals and 37 points in 54 games.
