Travis Kelce News
Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, who caught nine passes for 93 yards in the win over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday, said after the big game that he would return for another season rather than retire on top. The 34-year-old has been named to the Pro Bowl in each of the last nine years and is one of the best players at his position of all time, but he did show plenty of signs of slowing down in 2023. Kelce finished the regular season under 1,000 yards receiving for the first time since 2015, although he also missed two games (one due to injury). He also had just five receiving touchdowns, his fewest since 2019, and had some uncharacteristic drops along the way. Kelce will remain a high-end TE1 in fantasy in 2024 as the Chiefs go for a three-peat, but he's not going to be the overall TE1 entering fantasy drafts this fall.
Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce overcame a quiet first half in Super Bowl LVIII to lead his team with 93 receiving yards on nine catches (10 targets) in Sunday's 25-22 win over the San Francisco 49ers, raising the third Lombardi Trophy of his illustrious career. The Niners bottled up Kelce for one yard in the first two quarters, but they had a hard time holding down the future Hall of Famer after Dre Greenlaw (Achilles) went down. Kelce kept K.C.'s offense on schedule throughout the second half, moving the chains for five first downs as quarterback Patrick Mahomes' obvious go-to target. The wheels were starting to fall off late in the regular season for Kelce, but his stellar playoffs told a different story. Just when it seemed his 2024 fantasy ADP would come in at a discount, the 34-year-old superstar totaled 32 catches for 355 yards and three touchdowns in four playoff games. We'll cross that bridge when we get there, but Kelce will be 35 this October.
Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is saving his best for last this postseason. Kelce has significantly upped each of his catches per game (7.7), yards per reception (11.4), catch rate (85.2%), yards per route run (2.59), and touchdown rate (13.0%) from the regular season. The 34-year-old future Hall of Famer participates in his fourth career Super Bowl on Sunday in Las Vegas against the San Francisco 49ers, who allowed the fourth-fewest fantasy points per game (9.92) to opposing TEs in the regular year. But Tucker Kraft found the end zone during the Divisional Round in San Fran, while Sam LaPorta tagged the Niners for nine catches and 97 yards in the NFC Championship game. Kelce looks to be the latest to victimize them in the big game, and he's recorded 22 receptions for 257 yards and two scores in three lifetime Super Bowl appearances. Additionally, Kelce owns 28 catches for 375 yards and one TD in four career outings at Allegiant Stadium.
