A "Faster, More Explosive" Braelon Allen Could See More Touches

New York Jets running back Braelon Allen missed most of the 2025 season with a sprained MCL, but after an offseason of intensive rehab, he told the media on Monday that he is faster and more explosive than ever. With starting running back Breece Hall (groin) exiting practice with a groin injury, the third-year back could be in line for an expanded workload, and head coach Aaron Glenn shared on Monday his belief that Allen could handle the role. "I know that most people think that once you lose a starter, there's a huge drop-off," he said. "I like to look at it as all our guys are starters and there shouldn't be a drop-off. So, anytime we lose a player, I expect the next guy to come in and operate just as good." Allen is currently being drafted as the RB60, but he is built to handle an every-down role should Hall miss time in the regular season, making him an important insurance back to roster in deeper leagues.

Braelon Allen Impresses on Friday Amid Depth-Chart Battle

New York Jets running back Braelon Allen tallied four carries, 44 rushing yards, and one rushing touchdown during Friday's preseason opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Allen only appeared to play two drives, but he made the most of his limited opportunities, headlined by a 31-yard touchdown run. Breece Hall has a firm grasp on the lead-back role in New York, but Allen's big game puts him in the mix for the backup role, perhaps over Isaiah Davis. Allen found himself in a similar role at the start of last season before suffering a season-ending injury in Week 4. Despite what Friday's explosive run might suggest, Allen is actually more of a short-yardage back who has the ability to score points in deeper redraft leagues when he gets the ball around the goal line or when the Jets are approaching the line to gain. Plus, there's clear handcuff value behind Hall, even if the Jets aren't projected to have the most potent offense this year. Allen is worth a late-round flier in redraft leagues, especially for managers looking to grab Hall's handcuff.

Braelon Allen is Gaining Stash Value

New York Jets running back Braelon Allen is quickly gaining value early in camp. Fellow back Isaiah Davis (knee) suffered an injury that is going to keep him sidelined for a couple of weeks. The team believes he'll be ready for the regular season, but his absence gives Allen a straight shot at the No. 2 role in New York. Without Davis in the picture, Allen should have no problem securing the backup gig to Breece Hall, although that still wouldn't result in any standalone value as the backup in New York. Allen would likely be the change-of-pace back and would be the next man up if anything happens to Hall. The 22-year-old has shown flashes of potential in the past and deserves to be rostered in at least deep leagues to begin the season.

Braelon Allen Offers Handcuff Potential

New York Jets running back Braelon Allen is looking to bounce back after a disappointing 2025 campaign. Due to injuries, Allen was limited to four games this past season. The 22-year-old has worked hard this offseason to get his body right and get himself ready for a bounce-back campaign in 2026. Even if he's in great shape, Allen isn't going to be the No. 1 option on this team. Breece Hall signed a new extension and remains the workhorse back on this roster. At best, Allen can surpass Isaiah Davis on the depth chart and become a useful change-of-pace back. Fantasy managers should consider stashing Allen as a handcuff.

Braelon Allen Motivated to Step Up in Year 3

New York Jets running back Braelon Allen played in just four games in 2025 in his second year in the league due to injuries and finished with 18 rushing attempts for 76 yards and one touchdown, adding two catches for 17 yards. The 22-year-old former fourth-round pick in 2024 out of the University of Wisconsin attacked his rehab process with "hunger and a whole lot of motivation," according to Amanda Vogt of the team's official website. Allen is motivated to turn things around going into the 2026 campaign, and at 250 pounds, says he's the biggest, strongest, and fastest he's ever been. "I played 238-240 [pounds] last year," Allen said. "The most recent [DEXA scan] I did was by far my best. The most lean muscle mass I've ever had, the lowest percentage of body fat, perfect symmetry in both my legs and my arms; everything looked exactly how we wanted it to." According to head coach Aaron Glenn, the Jets have "a three-headed monster" at RB with Allen, Breece Hall, and Isaiah Davis. However, Hall is the Jets' clear RB1 after agreeing to a three-year, $45.75 million contract extension and reaching 1,000 rushing yards in 2025 for the first time in his career. At best, Allen will be hoping for a short-yardage/goal-line role in New York, which makes him mostly a handcuff option for Hall's fantasy managers in deeper leagues.

Braelon Allen is Getting Bigger and Stronger

New York Jets running back Braelon Allen has been working hard this offseason. Allen says that he's bigger and stronger than ever before. Allen is currently up to 250 pounds, which is up from 238-240 that he was at last season. He continued by saying that his body fat percentage is at an all-time low. Allen is looking to rebound after having surgery to repair an MCL injury he suffered in Week 4 of last season. If everything goes right, Allen should take on the role of the backup running back to Breece Hall. There's some stash value here if Allen is truly ready to take his game to the next level.

Does Braelon Allen Still Carry Dynasty Buy-Low Appeal Following Jets' Offseason Moves?

New York Jets running back Braelon Allen was one of the buzzier names in fantasy circles leading into the 2025 season. However, the 22-year-old suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week 4 that prevented him from eating into the workload of Jets RB1 Breece Hall. While Allen should be ready to go for the start of 2026, Hall remains in New York after signing a three-year, $45.75 extension with the Jets over the offseason. As a result, Allen's path to fantasy-relevant production in New York appears to be blocked off by Hall for the foreseeable future. He remains an appealing handcuff option for fantasy managers, but his dynasty stock is falling entering 2026.

Braelon Allen's Dynasty Stock Takes a Hit After Teammate's Extension

New York Jets running back Braelon Allen is still the RB2 in New York heading into the 2026 season, but the 22-year-old's dynasty stock took a hit on Friday when it was announced that the Jets signed Breece Hall to a three-year, $45.75 million contract extension that makes him the third-highest-paid RB in the league. Allen suffered an MCL injury in 2025 in his second season in the NFL that limited him to four games played. He finished with just 18 carries for 76 yards and one touchdown while catching two passes for 17 yards after he rushed for 334 yards and two touchdowns in 17 games (two starts) in his rookie season in 2024. The former fourth-rounder (134th overall) in 2024 out of the University of Wisconsin could still have plenty of fantasy value if Hall were to go down with an injury, but now that Hall is under contract with the Jets for another three seasons beyond 2026, his upside in dynasty leagues will be tempered.

Braelon Allen Still Offers Dynasty Upside Despite Lost Season in 2025

New York Jets running back Braelon Allen (knee) was limited to just four games played in 2025 after suffering a season-ending torn MCL in Week 4. The 22-year-old had been expected to play a significant role as a complementary piece to fellow Jets back Breece Hall, but instead was limited to just 93 scrimmage yards and a touchdown on 20 touches for the year. Allen should be fully healthy for the start of the 2026 season. While Hall remains with the Jets and profiles as the team's clear lead back, he is currently signed via the franchise tag, and his future in New York beyond 2026 is uncertain. Allen currently profiles as a high-end handcuff option for dynasty managers, and his long-term value could surge if the Jets move on from Hall. In dynasty formats, now might be the best time for managers to buy low on Allen.

Braelon Allen Has Clear Buy-Low Upside Coming Off a Lost Year

New York Jets running back Braelon Allen (knee) suffered through a lost season due to injury in 2025 after he went down with a season-ending MCL sprain in Week 4. Leading into 2025, Allen was one of the buzzier running back names in fantasy circles due to reports that the Jets were planning for a more even workload split between him and fellow back Breece Hall. That obviously never came to fruition, and Hall wound up logging over 1,400 yards from scrimmage across 16 games. However, the Jets placed the franchise tag on Hall earlier this offseason, and the two sides have yet to come to a long-term extension agreement. If he can get back to full health, Allen could still feature heavily in New York's future plans at the running back position. For dynasty managers, now might be the best time to buy low on Allen.
