Mason Taylor a Sneaky Deep Sleeper for 2026?

New York Jets tight end Mason Taylor took a hit to his fantasy stock after the team drafted tight end Kenyon Sadiq (hernia) and wideout Omar Cooper Jr. in April. However, with a recent setback in Sadiq's recovery, Taylor could carve out a role this season. Sadiq underwent a minor hernia procedure in May to fix the issue he battled in his final season at Oregon. The rookie returned for the start of training camp but suffered a setback in his recovery shortly into camp. While Sadiq has been out, Taylor has put together a strong camp and was a "standout player" in their joint practices with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to Jets reporter Amanda Vogt. If Sadiq suffers another setback or misses time during the season, Taylor would be viewed as TE2 with upside.

Mason Taylor Could Have More Opportunities With Rookie TE Hurt

New York Jets second-year tight end Mason Taylor is set to have more opportunities in the passing attack with rookie first-round tight end Kenyon Sadiq (hernia) likely to miss at least a chunk of the preseason, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN. Jeremy Ruckert took advantage of Sadiq's absence in training camp practice on Tuesday with a team-high four catches. "I see him breaking out this year," head coach Aaron Glenn said of Taylor, a 2025 second-round pick who made a team-high 44 receptions for 369 yards last season. The Jets plan to use more two-tight-end packages involving Taylor and Sadiq in new offensive coordinator Frank Reich's scheme, but those plans will be on hold after Sadiq had a setback following offseason hernia surgery. Taylor is still a hard sell in redraft leagues with Sadiq now in the fold in an offense run by veteran QB Geno Smith, but now might be the time to buy low on Taylor in dynasty/keeper leagues. Sadiq, although he possesses elite physical traits, wouldn't be the first rookie TE in the NFL to get started slow, and his injury doesn't help his cause.

Mason Taylor "Excited" to Play Alongside Rookie TE

Despite the team's decision to draft a tight end in the first round, New York Jets tight end Mason Taylor is excited to play alongside Oregon rookie Kenyon Sadiq. On Sadiq's selection, Taylor said, "I was excited. It's great for our team, makes the room better, the competition better. He's a great kid. He's come in here and learned fast. He's asked questions. It's exciting. It opens the door for all of us. I think that's the best part of it. We're just all excited about it." Taylor also added that offensive coordinator Frank Reich is going to have lots of fun creating an offense that includes both Sadiq and himself. As a rookie, Taylor hauled in 44 of 65 passes for 369 yards and one touchdown in 13 games. With Sadiq expected to take a ton of work from Taylor, the second-year tight end is not fantasy-relevant entering the 2026 season.

Mason Taylor Has Fallen Off of Fantasy Draft Boards in 2026

As a rookie in 2025, New York Jets tight end Mason Taylor led the team in both targets and receptions, but he was unable to build upon some promising early-season momentum or truly take advantage of the opportunity presented by Garrett Wilson's absence. Taylor saw a combined 22 targets in a three-game stretch from Weeks 3 through 5 that made him a popular waiver wire pickup, but even in serving as the de facto number one receiving option for large swaths of the season, he topped five targets in a game only two more times and eventually landed on injured reserve with a neck injury. The Jets have since spent a first-round pick on Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq, whose athleticism and physicality stand out in stark contrast to Taylor, who finished his rookie season without a single forced missed tackle. Incapable of consistently producing for fantasy as the top tight end on the team with Wilson sidelined for much of the year, nothing about Taylor's year-two situation suggests a sudden turnaround is on the way, and he is going largely undrafted in 2026 redraft leagues.

Should Dynasty Managers Explore Buying Low on Mason Taylor?

A second-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, New York Jets tight end Mason Taylor recorded 44 receptions for 369 yards and a touchdown on 65 targets across 13 games as a rookie. While Taylor's numbers may not leap off the page, he actually led the team in catches while playing with the highly underwhelming quarterback trio of Justin Fields, Tyrod Taylor, and Brady Cook. Despite Taylor's encouraging rookie year, New York used a first-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft on tight end Kenyon Sadiq. However, Sadiq's high-end athleticism may allow him to play more like a slot receiver than a traditional in-line tight end, which could allow him and Taylor to share the field consistently. Taylor's dynasty outlook has definitely taken a hit since the Jets drafted Sadiq, but this may be an opportunity for dynasty managers to buy super low on a talented player who is still just 22 years old.

Mason Taylor's Dynasty Value Takes a Hit for Now

New York Jets tight end Mason Taylor saw his dynasty value drop this past offseason. The Jets spent a first-round pick on Kenyon Sadiq, who projects to be the Jets' primary tight end from Day 1. That leaves Taylor, who was a second-round pick in 2025, in a backup role. Although there's still a possibility for Taylor to carve out standalone value, managers should temper expectations. First of all, the Jets had the 10th-fewest snaps in 12 personnel last year, which means we didn't see them use two tight ends a lot. They should roll out 12 personnel more often this year now that they have both Sadiq and Taylor, but we question whether it'll happen more than the league-average rate. Additionally, this offense is not set up to support two fantasy-relevant tight ends at once. It's very challenging for any NFL offense to achieve that, and the Jets probably aren't up for the challenge in a rebuild year with Geno Smith under center. Taylor is a solid handcuff in case Sadiq gets hurt, but he's falling out of favor in most fantasy leagues. He has dropped to TE23 in RotoBaller's latest dynasty fantasy football rankings.

How Much Dynasty Value Will Mason Taylor Hold After Offensive-Heavy Draft?

2025 second-round pick Mason Taylor showed some promising moments in his rookie season with the New York Jets on his way to amassing 369 yards on 44 receptions. However, with the Jets' selection of tight end Kenyon Sadiq with the 16th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, Taylor could now be on a path toward fantasy hardship, similar to the one seen by the Raiders' Michael Mayer. While Sadiq does not come into the league with the college resume of Raiders 2024 first-round pick Brock Bowers, he put on a clinic at the NFL Combine and is expected to claim the top tight end spot in New York. With the league trending toward more 12 and 13 personnel, Taylor will still have his opportunities in Frank Reich's tight end-friendly offense, but having forced zero missed tackles as a rookie, his skill set is not one that can necessarily translate to fantasy success without an abundance of volume. The Jets also spent their third of three first-round picks on receiver Omar Cooper Jr., who occupies a similar area of the field and will make a reliable target share even harder to come by. At RotoBaller's dynasty TE23, Taylor is still a worthwhile hold who could step into the occasional spike week as an injury replacement, but as long as Sadiq is healthy, it will be difficult to trust the 22-year-old second-year player out of LSU.

Mason Taylor Falls a Rung Down the Depth Chart

New York Jets tight end Mason Taylor saw his fantasy value take a hit on Thursday night. The Jets used one of their three first-round picks on Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq, an athletic pass-catcher who was regarded as the top draft prospect at his position. Sadiq had 51 catches, 560 yards, and eight touchdowns just last year at Oregon, and he should slot in as the Jets' No. 1 tight end immediately. That pushes Taylor down to No. 2, just 12 months after the Jets spent a second-round pick on him. It's tough news for dynasty managers, as it had seemed like Taylor was trending up following his 44 catches, 369 yards, and one touchdown as a rookie last year. Instead, the 21-year-old LSU product will fall to second on the depth chart, taking him off the fantasy radar in most leagues as long as Sadiq is healthy.

Mason Taylor a Sneaky Buy in Dynasty Leagues as NFL Draft Approaches?

New York Jets tight end Mason Taylor showed flashes of upside as a rookie last season, and he's an intriguing buy-low candidate ahead of this week's NFL Draft. With two first-round picks, the Jets seem primed to select one of this year's top quarterback prospects -- if not on Day 1, then likely on Day 2. Adding a young quarterback not only gives the Jets a long-term upgrade over Geno Smith but also an improved passer for many of the team's young receivers, including Taylor. In fact, perhaps no position benefits more from a rookie quarterback than tight end. Taylor can be a reliable, short-distance outlet for the Jets' young quarterback, and the two could potentially form a strong rapport that transforms Taylor into a weekly TE1 option. There's a lot of value in trading for young pass-catchers who are about to get a quarterback upgrade. Taylor currently ranks as RotoBaller's TE16 in dynasty fantasy football, and he could jump to the top-12 range with an improved quarterback situation. The time to buy low on Taylor is now.

Jets Expecting a "Hell of a Year" From Mason Taylor

New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn expects tight end Mason Taylor to make a big jump and have a "hell of a year" in his second season in the NFL in 2026, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN. Taylor ended his rookie season on Injured Reserve due to a neck injury, but it's not expected to impact his availability at the start of the 2026 campaign this fall. In 13 games for the Jets last year, Taylor caught 44 of his 65 targets for 369 yards and only one touchdown. It wasn't exactly what dynasty managers were hoping for, but it also wasn't completely Taylor's fault. He missed the final four games with a neck injury, and New York's passing attack was brutal with quarterbacks Justin Fields, Tyrod Taylor, and Brady Cook. Taylor didn't have much of a chance to get going in his rookie season, and he was the TE35 overall in half-PPR scoring. Going into Year 2, the former second-rounder could be handcuffed again by a poor offense, which will now be run by veteran Geno Smith, who led the league with 17 interceptions in 2025 with the Raiders. Take Glenn's statement this week about Taylor with a grain of salt.
