Minkah Fitzpatrick Traded to Jets

Five-time Pro-Bowl safety Minkah Fitzpatrick has been traded from the Miami Dolphins to the New York Jets in exchange for a 2026 seventh-round pick, according to Adam Schefter, who also reports Fitzpatrick will sign a three-year, $40 million deal with the Jets. The 2018 first-round pick will now play for his third team in as many years after being traded from the Steelers to the Dolphins before the 2025 season. The Jets come into the new league year flush with both draft capital and money to spend, and they have made their first splash of the 2026 offseason. While Fitzpatrick is no longer the game-wrecking ballhawk that made him a First-Team All-Pro three times between 2019 and 2022, he should serve as a versatile piece on the back-end of Aaron Glenn's defense.

Jets Could Trade for Minkah Fitzpatrick

ESPN's Rich Cimini writes that the New York Jets are a team to watch involving Miami Dolphins safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, who reportedly is available for trade this offseason. Jets defensive coordinator Brian Duker was the Dolphins' passing-game coordinator and is familiar with Fitzpatrick. The 29-year-old five-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro had 82 tackles (59 solo), his first career sack, one interception, six pass breakups, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries in 14 starts in 2025 in his first year back with Miami and his eighth season in the NFL. The Jets need a lot of other help on both sides of the ball going into the 2026 season, but Fitzpatrick would certainly be a veteran presence for a secondary and defense that made history by becoming the first team ever without an interception for the entire season in 2025.

Dolphins Have had Trade Talks Involving Minkah Fitzpatrick

The Miami Dolphins have had trade talks with teams this offseason regarding five-time Pro Bowl safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, sources told Jordan Schultz of FOX Sports. Miami already released four players earlier this week, including Pro Bowl receiver Tyreek Hill (knee), and they are in the early stages of resetting their roster under a new regime. The Dolphins acquired the 29-year-old defensive back from the Pittsburgh Steelers last year in the deal that sent cornerback Jalen Ramsey to the Steel City. Fitzpatrick could be on the move again this year after he recorded 82 tackles (59 solo), one sack, four tackles for loss, one interception, six pass breakups, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries in 14 games in his return to Miami. He should have plenty of suitors on the trade market as the Dolphins look for draft-pick compensation.

Minkah Fitzpatrick Considered "Week-to-Week"

Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel labeled safety Minkah Fitzpatrick (calf) as "week-to-week" after he was injured in Monday's loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to Travis Wingfield of MiamiDolphins.com. The Dolphins were eliminated from playoff contention with their loss in Week 15, but Fitzpatrick could be back in the final three weeks. The 29-year-old star safety probably won't play in Week 16 against the Cincinnati Bengals, but he could be back for Week 17 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers or in the Week 18 regular-season finale versus the division-rival New England Patriots. Fitzpatrick continues to be an asset for fantasy managers in IDP leagues, as he ranks as the No. 12 defensive back in 2025 with 59 total tackles, one sack, six pass breakups, an interception, a forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries in 14 games played.

Dolphins Open to Trading Minkah Fitzpatrick

The Miami Dolphins are reportedly open to trading three-time All-Pro safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, and there has been interest from multiple teams. The Dolphins reacquired Fitzpatrick in the offseason in a deal that saw them send All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey and tight end Jonnu Smith to the Steelers, along with a pick swap. With the Dolphins stumbling to a 2-6 record and recently firing GM Chris Grier, they approach Tuesday's trade deadline as clear sellers, and they already sent Jaelan Phillips to the Eagles for a third-round pick on Monday morning. While Fitzpatrick's appeal to a contending team should be obvious, any move will have little fantasy repercussion, as the 8th-year safety hasn't had IDP relevance in some time, despite the name recognition.

Minkah Fitzpatrick Agrees to Revised Contract with Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins have added a $16.2 million signing bonus to the contract of recently-acquired safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. Fitzpatrick's contract had no guaranteed money left on it before the revision, and his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, told Schefter that he is still discussing a new long-term deal with the team. Miami acquired Fitzpatrick from the Pittsburgh Steelers along with a 2027 fifth-round pick in late June in exchange for defensive back Jalen Ramsey, tight end Jonnu Smith, and a 2027 seventh-rounder. Fitzpatrick actually began his career in Miami, but he's spent most of the last six seasons with Pittsburgh and has been named a first-team All-Pro three times. The 28-year-old has recorded 400 solo tackles and 20 interceptions in his career and will be expected to anchor the Dolphins' secondary in 2025.

Minkah Fitzpatrick Heading Back to Miami

Pittsburgh Steelers All-Pro safety Minkah Fitzpatrick is being traded to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for cornerback Jalen Ramsey, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The Ramsey trade was announced just before it was known that Fitzpatrick was part of the deal. The 28-year-old was originally selected by the Dolphins in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft out of Alabama, but he was dealt to Pittsburgh after just one season with the organization. Overall, the three-time All-Pro and five-time Pro Bowl selection has tallied 608 tackles (400 solo), 20 interceptions, 54 pass deflections, five forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries, and four defensive touchdowns in 106 career games.

Steelers Expecting More Production From Minkah Fitzpatrick

Pittsburgh Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick missed seven games last season due to injury, and it was the first year dating back to high school that he recorded zero interceptions. In 2024, Fitzpatrick and the Steelers are expecting a return to his ball-hawking ways. "The biggest thing is as coaches, our job is to try to get all of our guys in the best position as possible so they can play as well as they can and play up to their abilities," defensive coordinator Teryl Austin said. "And so last year I probably failed in that regard. We tried to have him do too much stuff, and I think I'm going to get back to really what makes him special." Austin's comments signal that the team will give him more freedom this year, which could help him become fantasy-relevant in IDP leagues once again. The former first-round pick out of Alabama scored the third-most fantasy points among defensive backs in 2021 and the 12th-most in 2022.

Minkah Fitzpatrick Removed From Injury Report

Pittsburgh Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick (knee) was removed from the injury report ahead of this weekend's Wild-Card matchup against the Buffalo Bills. Fitzpatrick hasn't played since Week 15 due to a lingering knee issue. However, he was able to get through full practice sessions this week. The star safety appears ready to go, which is a significant boost for this defense that is going to be without T.J. Watt. Fitzpatrick has 64 tackles and three passes defended in 10 games this season.

Minkah Fitzpatrick Misses Practice Tuesday

Pittsburgh Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick (knee) missed his team's estimated practice on Tuesday as they gear up to face off against the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday. Fitzpatrick has missed Pittsburgh's past two games with a knee issue, an injury which is apparently still giving him trouble. The Steelers have an outside shot at sneaking into the playoffs but they could still opt to play it safe with one of their key defenders in the regular-season finale. Stay tuned to practice reports on Wednesday and Thursday.
