Minkah Fitzpatrick News

Minkah Fitzpatrick Provides Excellent Deep Help

Pittsburgh Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick allowed only a 27.3 passer rating in coverage after his Week 3 trade from the Dolphins in 2019, according to Pro Football Focus. His passer rating in coverage was lower than if a quarterback threw the ball away on purpose (39.6). Fitzpatrick was lined up at deep safety on 90 percent of his snaps with the Steelers, as opposed to just 22.4 percent in his time with the Dolphins. The 11th overall pick in 2018 by Miami, Fitzpatrick was a turnover machine last year, recording five interceptions (one for a TD), two forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries (one for a TD). He has a nose for the football, but you can't always count on consistent turnovers, which is why Fitzpatrick is more of a low-end starting safety option in IDP leagues.

Minkah Fitzpatrick Looking To Make Bigger Impact

Pittsburgh Steelers defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick made an immediate impact when the team acquired him from the Miami Dolphins after Week 2 of the 2019 season. With Fitzpatrick getting thrown into the fire without knowing his new team's playbook, the Steelers had to limit their defensive packages. Despite the limitations, Fitzpatrick managed just fine in his new uniform, posting five interceptions, three recovered fumbles, and two forced fumbles. Now that Fitzpatrick has had the entire offseason to get familiarized with Pittsburgh's plays, he should be able to create even more problems for opposing offenses. Fitzpatrick with call the signals for the secondary this season as he will anchor a Steelers Defense that has loads of potential. The Steelers defense should be a high quality unit in fantasy in 2020.

Minkah Fitzpatrick To Play Safety For Steelers Defense

Pittsburgh Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick will play the free safety spot with his new team to help replace Sean Davis (shoulder), who was placed on Injured Reserve on Tuesday. The Steelers traded a first-round pick to Miami for Fitzpatrick on Monday night, and he'll make his debut in Week 3 on the road against the 49ers. The 2018 first-rounder was being used all over the place in Miami, so he should be more comfortable at safety with his new club. Pittsburgh hasn't been able to stop much of anything on defense through two weeks, so hopefully Fitzpatrick's addition can help shore up their secondary. The Steelers Defense/special teams should be avoided against San Francisco this weekend.
