Armand Membou Expected to Start at Right Tackle

New York Jets rookie first-round offensive tackle Armand Membou will be the Week 1 starter at right tackle for the Jets, barring something unforeseen, according to ESPN's Rich Cimini. Membou moves extremely well for being 332 pounds -- he ran a 4.92-second 40-yard dash at the scouting combine. The 21-year-old did struggle against Will McDonald IV during offseason practices, but Membou was at a disadvantage in non-padded practices, and he should be able to block at the second level in his first year in the NFL in 2025. "We've seen all the workout warriors who can't play a lick of ball. Membou can play ball," offensive line coach Steve Heiden said. The Jets took Membou eighth overall in April's NFL draft out of Missouri. He has a rare combination of size, strength and athleticism and will immediately make New York's offensive line better.

Armand Membou Signs Rookie Deal

New York Jets first-round offensive tackle Armand Membou signed his four-year rookie deal with the team on Thursday, according to the Jets. Membou's four-year deal is worth around $31.9 million, according to ESPN's Rich Cimini. The 21-year-old out of Missouri was taken by the Jets with the seventh overall pick as they look to improve their offensive line further in front of new quarterback Justin Fields in 2025. Membou is a mauler on the offensive line at 6-foot-4, 332 pounds and has a rare combination of brute strength and athleticism. His strength and mobility should make him an immediate asset for the Jets' ground game and passing attack in his rookie season, which is good news for both RB Breece Hall and Fields. The Jets could have one of the better tackle combinations moving forward with Membou and Olu Fashanu.

Jets Draft Armand Membou At Seventh Overall

The New York Jets selected Missouri right tackle Armand Membou with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft on Thursday night. Membou showed at the scouting combine that he has the ability to be a Pro Bowl right tackle as he transitions to the NFL. He has very powerful hands and is a plug-and-play guy right away for a Jets offensive line that is already pretty strong on the inside. The 21-year-old stands at 6-foot-4 and 332 pounds. It's not prototypical size for a right tackle, but Membou makes up for it with his power and showed that he was plenty dominant for the Tigers in 2024. He plays with quickness and plenty of body control as well. The addition of Membou is great news for new Jets quarterback Justin Fields and running back Breece Hall if he remains with the organization heading into the 2025 season this fall.

Armand Membou Could Be In Play For Patriots At No. 4

ESPN's Matt Miller writes that Missouri offensive tackle Armand Membou could be in play for the New England Patriots at No. 4 overall in this year's NFL draft, as they've done a lot of homework on him as they look to improve their offensive line in front of quarterback Drake Maye. Scouts have also said the Patriots would be happy with either Colorado wide receiver/defensive back Travis Hunter or Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter if they are available. ESPN's Mike Reiss believes New England would consider a trade down if both Hunter and Carter are off the board. "If somebody has an offer for us, I think we'd be willing to listen," head coach Mike Vrabel said. It sounds like the Pats are open to a variety of possibilities, including LSU offensive lineman Will Campbell and Michigan defensive tackle Mason Graham.
