Garrett Wilson Sees Dynasty Value Take a Hit in Revamped New York Offense

New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson (knee) now faces added competition after the organization made several additions to the offense during the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft on Thursday night. The Jets made three first-round selections, including two key targets for quarterback Geno Smith. Oregon's Kenyon Sadiq joined the tight end room, and the Jets also traded up to acquire Indiana wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. We're not overly bullish about the state of this passing game with Smith throwing the football, but to their credit, the Jets have done a good job building a foundation of weapons around him. The bad news is that Wilson's dynasty value could take a hit. Accurate, valuable targets have been hard to come by in the Jets' offense in years past, and that was when Wilson was one of the only players to pass to. Now, Sadiq, Cooper, and even Mason Taylor and Adonai Mitchell will threaten to steal plenty of targets from Wilson, making him even more dependent on deep-yardage catches and touchdowns. He's still an uber-talented player, but the added competition will hurt his value in dynasty fantasy football.

Garrett Wilson's Stock Up Heading into NFL Draft

New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson missed 10 games in 2025, so the business-as-usual start with which he began the year may not be as fresh in the minds of dynasty managers as it could be. Through the first six weeks of the season, Wilson caught 36 passes for 395 yards and four scores, good enough to make him the WR9 on a 17-game pace of 102 receptions, 1,119 yards, and 11 touchdowns until a knee injury derailed his season. By all accounts, Wilson's recovery has gone well, and he should have no limitations heading into the 2026 season, either personally or from a quarterbacking perspective. The Jets traded for former Comeback Player of the Year winner Geno Smith, and while he's coming off a down year with the Raiders, he arguably represents the best quarterback that Wilson has played with in his four-year career. That title is currently held by a past-his-prime Aaron Rodgers, from whom Wilson caught over 100 passes in 2024 despite sharing the field with Davante Adams for much of the year. Wilson's 7.9 targets per game across his 11 games played with Adams showed he can still draw volume even when playing alongside elite target competition, an important factor with the Jets holding four of the first 44 picks in the week's NFL Draft and wide receiver high atop their list of needs. Should the team invest early capital in one of the premier wideouts in the class, Wilson could see a slight drop to his current dynasty status as RotoBaller's WR13, and contending managers should try to buy the dip.

Will Garrett Wilson Have a More Stable Environment Around Him in New York Going Forward?

New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson (knee) battled through a lost season in 2025, as he was limited to just seven games played due to a knee injury. When healthy, Wilson was still productive, recording 36 catches for 395 yards and four touchdowns on 59 targets. The 25-year-old is also expected to make a full recovery and should be healthy and ready to go for the 2026 season. Talent has never been the issue for Wilson, but the offensive environment around him in New York has been questionable for his entire career and profiles similarly in 2026. The Jets acquired veteran quarterback Geno Smith over the offseason, and while Smith is coming off a down year with the Las Vegas Raiders, he's still a savvy veteran who could stabilize the team's passing game. Wilson also remains the only highly established pass catcher in New York, and should be consistently force-fed targets. Fantasy managers in dynasty formats should hold Wilson in the hopes that he re-establishes high-end value in 2026.

Garrett Wilson Could Continue to be Held Back by Quarterback Situation

New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson has dealt with some poor quarterback play throughout his NFL career, and that might not change in 2026. New York recently struck a deal to acquire quarterback Geno Smith, taking on the final year of his hefty contract in exchange for a late-round pick. It's a move that signals the Jets want to have better quarterback play than last year, but still don't plan to be very competitive next season. Smith wasn't able to support very promising fantasy results from his receivers in 2025, as Jakobi Meyers was traded midseason and Vegas' top-scoring fantasy receiver was Tre Tucker (WR38). Make no mistake, Wilson should still be a fantasy WR2 when healthy; he was the WR15 in terms of fantasy points per game last year, but he missed more than half the season. He was also the overall WR10 with over 100 catches back in 2024, but that was with Aaron Rodgers as his quarterback. The bottom line is that Wilson will deliver fantasy-relevant results regardless of the quarterback situation, but his true ceiling will continue to be limited as the Jets roll out quarterbacks like Justin Fields, Tyrod Taylor, and now, Smith. He's best viewed in the WR16-WR24 range for 2026.

Can Garrett Wilson Return to WR1 Production in 2026?

New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson is coming off a season-ending knee injury he sustained in December. Wilson was shut down in the middle of the 2025 season to avoid major injury and focus on a full recovery. In a limited season, Wilson had 36 catches for 395 receiving yards with four touchdowns on 59 targets. The 25-year-old was averaging over nine targets per game and was on pace to clear 160 targets. Heading into 2026, the Jets' future is very murky with no clear starting quarterback in place and Breece Hall potentially departing during free agency. Wilson will remain a fringe WR1 in dynasty based on his talent as a receiver alone, but his ceiling will continue to be capped due to the poor offensive ecosystem around him.

Garrett Wilson Battling Offensive Instability in New York

New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson (knee) had his 2025 season cut short by a knee injury that he suffered in Week 6. After attempting to make a comeback in Week 10, Wilson was eventually shut down for the remainder of the year. Across the seven games he played, the 25-year-old recorded 36 receptions for 395 yards and four touchdowns on 59 targets. While Wilson remains an obvious talent at the wide receiver position and profiles as the clear lead option in the Jets' passing game going forward, the offensive infrastructure around him in New York continues to be a major question mark. Justin Fields, Tyrod Taylor, and Brady Cook all saw time at quarterback for the Jets in 2025, but none of them appears to be the team's long-term answer at the position. As such, Wilson will likely be working with yet another new quarterback in 2026. New York will also have a new play-caller after moving on from offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand. Wilson still profiles as a solid wide receiver option for fantasy managers in 2026, but the unstable situation around him limits his production certainty.

Garrett Wilson Shelved for Remainder of 2025

According to head coach Aaron Glenn, New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson (knee) will be shut down for the remainder of the season as he recovers from a hyper-extended knee. Wilson initially injured his knee in New York's Week 6 loss to the Broncos. After two games and a bye week's worth of rest, the 25-year-old returned to the field. However, he'd reaggravate the ailment, be placed on IR, and is now set to miss the remaining three games. Despite the Jets' offensive woes, Wilson was a bright spot, but he'll now set his sights on 2026. With the news, fantasy managers can expect Adonai Mitchell and John Metchie III to continue playing prominent roles in the team's aerial attack. Isaiah Williams has carved out a role as the third wideout working in behind them.

Garrett Wilson's Practice Window Still Hasn't Opened

The New York Jets have yet to open the 21-day practice window for wide receiver Garrett Wilson (knee), according to ESPN's Rich Cimini. Head coach Aaron Glenn reiterated that the team still has to consult with doctors on Wilson's status. Wilson remains on Injured Reserve after aggravating a knee injury back in Week 10. At this point, with only four games remaining in the 2025 season, it's fair to wonder if the 25-year-old pass-catcher will be allowed to come back with the Jets out of playoff contention. With Wilson almost certain to be ruled out for Week 15 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, receivers John Metchie III and Adonai Mitchell will continue to operate as the top two receivers, but they might be taking passes from undrafted rookie quarterback Brady Cook this week with both Tyrod Taylor (groin) and Justin Fields (knee) nursing injuries.

No Timetable Yet for Garrett Wilson's Return

While New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson (knee) is eligible to return from IR in Week 15, head coach Aaron Glenn has offered no update on his status. Wilson has been shelved since Week 10 after reaggravating a knee injury he picked up back in Week 6. Although he's technically available to be reinstated from injured reserve, Glenn notes that "it will be a medical decision between Wilson and the doctors" that would afford him clearance to return to the field. As it stands, it's no guarantee that the Ohio State alum suits up again this season, particularly with New York's playoff dreams officially quashed. If he's forced to miss a fifth straight game, teammates John Metchie III and Adonai Mitchell would continue leading the Jets' pass attack when they square off with the hosting Jacksonville Jaguars next Sunday.

Garrett Wilson Still Expected to Return and Contribute in 2025

New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson (knee) has been sidelined since Week 10 with relatively few updates on his status. Now, despite the Jets trending toward missing the playoffs, Connor Hughes of SNY speculates that Wilson will be activated and will return to the lineup before the end of the regular season. When explaining his belief that Wilson will play again this year, Hughes cited the receiver's desire to contribute. "Garrett is such a different guy," Hughes said. "He wants to win so bad, and he wants to be on the field so bad that when he is healthy and he can clear and pass all the tests, I don't see the Jets being able to keep Garrett out of the lineup. He is going to want to be out there, and the Jets are ultimately going to have to put him back out there." The exact timetable for Wilson's return is unclear, but presumably, he'll be back for some or all of the fantasy football playoffs. He should benefit from having Tyrod Taylor under center, as his best game of the season came with the veteran quarterback throwing him passes. That happened back in Week 3, and Wilson caught 10 passes for 84 yards and one touchdown. Upon his return, Wilson will rank as a low-end WR1 in fantasy football.
