Garrett Wilson Returns From Illness on Tuesday

New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson (illness) returned to training camp practice on Tuesday after sitting out on Monday due to an illness, according to Al Iannazzone of Newsday. Wilson took part in the team's preseason opener last Friday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, catching two of his three targets for 32 yards while playing 11 offensive snaps. It remains to be seen if the 26-year-old will suit up for the second preseason contest this Friday against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Going into his fifth year in the NFL, the former 10th overall pick from Ohio State is the Jets' unquestioned WR1 in a new offense led by veteran quarterback Geno Smith. Wilson has never had high-end QB play in his first four years in the league, but he has produced three 1,000-yard seasons in his three healthy campaigns. He played in only seven games in 2025 due to an injury, finishing with 36 catches for 395 yards and four touchdowns. Wilson is an obvious bounce-back candidate in 2026 if he plays a full season, and he should have a solid fantasy floor as a WR2 target.

Garrett Wilson Sidelined with Stomach Bug Ahead of Pivotal Season

New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson (illness) missed Monday's practice due to a stomach bug, head coach Aaron Glenn told Brian Costello of the New York Post. Out of all the reasons to miss a practice during training camp, an illness raises very little concern. Once Wilson is healthy again, he should return to the field with no limitations. Having Wilson healthy and ready to produce will be key for the Jets, who are looking to bounce back after a dismal 2025 season on both sides of the ball. The 26-year-old receiver is incredibly talented, but injuries and poor quarterback play have resulted in him finishing outside the top 20 fantasy receivers for three of the last four years. The quarterback play isn't necessarily getting any better with Geno Smith, but at least he offers a somewhat steady veteran presence with experience throwing to receivers like DK Metcalf, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and Jakobi Meyers. Wilson currently ranks as the WR18 in RotoBaller's latest redraft rankings for the 2026 fantasy football season.

Garrett Wilson Displaying Clear Chemistry With Newest QB

New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson has never struggled to earn targets, though the quality of those looks has often left something to be desired from a fantasy perspective. A first-round pick in 2022, the start of his career did not align with quarterback Geno Smith's first stint with the Jets, but with the 35-year-old veteran now back with the team that drafted him, the two are making the most of their first training camp together and developing an obvious chemistry. While working on third-and-long situations on Friday, Smith was a perfect five of five when targeting Wilson in team sessions, and the ball has rarely touched the ground when he's gone that way throughout camp. With Justin Fields under center to begin 2025, Wilson started the year as the WR6 before a knee injury derailed his season after only five healthy games. Now, with the injury behind him and the potential beneficiary of improved quarterback play, he's being drafted as the WR19, making him one of the best potential values at the position in 2026 drafts.

Garrett Wilson and Jets Offense Put on a Show

During the New York Jets' first public practice of training camp, the offense looked to be in mid-season form, with team contributors Amanda Vogt and Eric Allen noting that the ball didn't touch the ground once for the first-team offense, with fifth-year receiver Garrett Wilson standing out as an early target for quarterback Geno Smith. On a day in which he went 11/11 with four touchdowns in team drills, Smith's first two connections of competitive sessions went to Wilson, who was charted with five total catches and a touchdown. Wilson has long been capable of drawing one of the heaviest target shares in the league, and his early connection with Smith could lead to continued volume throughout the season. After pacing as the WR6 through the first five weeks of an injury-shortened 2025 campaign, Wilson is RotoBaller's WR19 and a smart pick as a player who could easily break back into the top 12 of the position.

Garrett Wilson Carries Dynasty Buy-Low Appeal After Injury-Marred 2025

New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson had his 2025 season ruined by a season-ending knee injury that limited him to just seven games played. However, the 25-year-old is healthy heading into 2026 and remained a productive player when on the field last season, finishing the year with 36 catches for 395 yards and four touchdowns on 59 targets. The Jets added some talent to their pass-catching corps in the 2026 NFL Draft, using first-round picks on tight end Kenyon Sadiq and Omar Cooper Jr. Still, Wilson is by far the most established option in New York's passing game and has a chance to average over nine targets per game for the third time in the last four seasons in 2026. The offensive ecosystem around Wilson with the Jets is definitely a concern, but New York should at least have more competent quarterback play after adding Geno Smith in free agency. In dynasty formats, managers may want to explore buying low on Wilson ahead of the 2026 season.

Is Garrett Wilson a WR1 in 2026?

Before a knee injury ended his 2025 campaign, New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson was the WR5 through the first five weeks of the season. Heading into 2026 healthy and in what looks to be an uptrending offense, Wilson has the potential to volume his way to a top 10 finish over a full season. The Jets spent first-round picks on tight end Kenyon Sadiq and wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr., moves that could help elevate the offense as a whole without adding insurmountable competition for Wilson's targets. In his first full season with the team, Adonai Mitchell looks to handle WR2 responsibilities, though his game has been predicted more on big plays than volume, and in Frank Reich's mesh-heavy offense, Wilson should be given ample opportunity to work with the ball in space. New York traded for quarterback Geno Smith, who now faces allegations of battery but has not been charged, so while his legal situation warrants monitoring, he still represents an upgrade at the position. In a best-case scenario, Wilson's ceiling is as high as nearly any receiver currently being drafted outside of the first two rounds, and at RotoBaller's WR14, he's one of the last players that drafters should feel comfortable enough to make their WR1 in a running back-heavy build.

Garrett Wilson's Dynasty Upside Remains High Despite Questionable Offensive Environment in New York

After playing in 51 consecutive games to open his career, New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson (knee) appeared in just seven games in 2025 due to a knee injury. As a result, the 25-year-old finished the year with 36 receptions for 359 yards and four touchdowns on 59 targets. Wilson has been a highly productive player since entering the NFL in 2022, recording three straight seasons with at least 80 catches and 1,000 receiving yards before 2025. He's been consistently held back by questionable quarterback play in New York, which has limited his fantasy upside. While Wilson may face familiar problems in 2026, the presence of veteran quarterback Geno Smith in New York should at least bring some stability to a Jets passing game that was led by a combination of Justin Fields, Tyrod Taylor, and Brady Cook last season. Wilson also remains the obvious number one target in New York even after the team used first-round picks in the 2026 NFL Draft on wideout Omar Cooper Jr. and tight end Kenyon Sadiq. In dynasty formats, Wilson's injury may have created a buy-low window for managers to capitalize on leading into 2026.

Garrett Wilson Back at OTAs With Jets

After a season-ending knee injury suffered in 2025, New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson (knee) is back on the field for OTA practices this week, according to Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post. The injury bug finally bit Wilson in his fourth year in the NFL, limiting him to seven starts and 36 receptions for 395 yards and four touchdowns on 59 targets last year. The 25-year-old briefly returned in Week 10 against the Cleveland Browns, only to sprain the same knee after 19 offensive snaps. He was shut down for the rest of the way after that. The former 10th overall pick in 2022 out of Ohio State has the skills to rebound as the Jets' top wideout, but can he really do it with veteran quarterback Geno Smith, who was terrible in 2025 in Vegas, leading the offense? Wilson could also have more target competition after the addition of rookie tight end Kenyon Sadiq and rookie wideout Omar Cooper Jr. He will at least come at a discounted price on draft day, with RotoBaller ranking Wilson as the WR17 overall going into his fifth year in the NFL.

Garrett Wilson's Dynasty Upside Limited by Quarterback Questions

New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson (knee) was limited to just seven games played in 2025 by a knee injury that landed him on Injured Reserve in November. Before getting hurt, the 25-year-old recorded 36 receptions for 395 yards and four touchdowns on 59 targets and appeared to be on his way to his fourth consecutive season with at least 1,000 receiving yards. While Wilson has been a productive player to this point in his career, his fantasy ceiling has been limited by consistently substandard supporting casts around him in New York. Wilson is expected to be fully healthy for the start of 2026 and remains the clear number one target in the Jets' passing game. However, New York is entering yet another season with an uncertain situation at quarterback, with veteran Geno Smith set to open the year as the team's starter after a brutal year with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2025. The Jets also added a pair of first-round pass-catchers in the 2026 NFL Draft in tight end Kenyon Sadiq and Omar Cooper Jr., both of whom could steal a few targets from Wilson. In dynasty formats, Wilson's production upside remains limited until the Jets find a long-term answer at quarterback.

Garrett Wilson Sees Dynasty Value Take a Hit in Revamped New York Offense

New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson (knee) now faces added competition after the organization made several additions to the offense during the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft on Thursday night. The Jets made three first-round selections, including two key targets for quarterback Geno Smith. Oregon's Kenyon Sadiq joined the tight end room, and the Jets also traded up to acquire Indiana wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. We're not overly bullish about the state of this passing game with Smith throwing the football, but to their credit, the Jets have done a good job building a foundation of weapons around him. The bad news is that Wilson's dynasty value could take a hit. Accurate, valuable targets have been hard to come by in the Jets' offense in years past, and that was when Wilson was one of the only players to pass to. Now, Sadiq, Cooper, and even Mason Taylor and Adonai Mitchell will threaten to steal plenty of targets from Wilson, making him even more dependent on deep-yardage catches and touchdowns. He's still an uber-talented player, but the added competition will hurt his value in dynasty fantasy football.
