Will McDonald IV Projects As Situational Pass-Rusher
New York Jets rookie defensive end Will McDonald IV, who was taken with the 15th overall pick in this year's NFL draft, will need to prove that he's big and strong enough to be a quality edge rusher in training camp this summer at 240 pounds. McDonald showed the speed and agility in non-contact offseason practices that prompted the Jets to take him this high in the first round. Defensive end Solomon Thomas said McDonald has "the super rare ability to bend on a dime." The 24-year-old projects to be a pass-rushing specialist for the Jets in his first NFL campaign as part of a deep defensive-end rotation. McDonald will help a Jets defense that is quickly becoming one of the best in the league.
The Jets selected Iowa State edge rusher Will McDonald IV with the No. 15 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. New York selected Sauce Gardner and Jermaine Johnson II in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, so the team added another young up-and-coming prospect on Thursday night. The 23-year-old totaled 125 tackles during his collegiate career. Even better, he had 34 sacks. Undoubtedly, his presence will enhance an already potent Jets defense, and his services could prove helpful for IDP dynasty managers.
