Jets Draft Kenyon Sadiq at No. 16 Overall

The New York Jets have selected Oregon tight end prospect Kenyon Sadiq with the 16th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. It's a bit of a surprising development, especially since the Jets drafted tight end Mason Taylor in the second round of last year's draft. This addition doesn't necessarily spell disaster for Taylor, though, as the Jets could benefit from running two-tight end sets. With that being said, Sadiq should immediately slot in as the Jets' No. 1 tight end, offering another key threat for Geno Smith in the passing game alongside wide receiver Garrett Wilson. Sadiq had 51 catches, 560 yards, and eight touchdowns during his final season with the Ducks. There had been rumblings about him going to the Panthers at No. 19 overall, but in the end, he didn't even make it that far. The Jets will face some growing pains with Smith at quarterback this year, but New York has made a respectable effort to build out a young core within its offense so that they can compete in years down the road. As a result, Sadiq has long-term upside, ranking as the TE9 overall in RotoBaller's latest dynasty fantasy football rankings.

Kenyon Sadiq is the Top Tight End in 2026 Rookie Drafts

Oregon tight end prospect Kenyon Sadiq continues to generate plenty of buzz ahead of Thursday's NFL Draft. He's essentially a lock to be selected in the first round, but his exact landing spot remains unclear. Earlier this week, rumors swirled of Sadiq being heavily linked to the Carolina Panthers, who pick 19th. The latest aggregate mock draft data from NFLMockDraftDatabase.com ranks Sadiq as the No. 16 prospect, but his consensus mock position is No. 19 to the Panthers. Carolina is an interesting fit. On one hand, head coach Dave Canales has never placed much emphasis on featuring a tight end. On the other hand, the Panthers were trending up last year, and a true No. 1 tight end could help elevate their offense to the next level. Sadiq currently ranks as the No. 9 rookie in RotoBaller's latest fantasy football rankings, as well as the overall TE9 in dynasty leagues.

Kenyon Sadiq Linked to Panthers in Mock Drafts

The Athletic's Joseph Person writes that Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq has "been increasingly linked" to the Carolina Panthers in mock drafts with the 2026 NFL draft quickly approaching on Thursday night. The Panthers hold the 19th overall pick in the first round. Sadiq, who is a freakish athlete at his position, has gone in the top 15 picks in a couple of recent mock drafts by The Athletic, so he could be off the board by the time the Panthers are on the clock (assuming they don't trade up). Some in the Panthers organization don't think TE is as big of a need as some outsiders do, especially with how head coach Dave Canales has used the position in his first two seasons with the team. In his final collegiate season with the Ducks, Sadiq had 51 catches for 560 yards and eight touchdowns in 14 games played. Wherever he lands, he's going to be a pricey acquisition in rookie-only drafts in keeper leagues later this year. In Carolina, Sadiq could immediately become the TE1 because of his athleticism and elite speed at the position.

Kenyon Sadiq Profiles as a High-Upside Dynasty Tight End

University of Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq is widely expected to be selected in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft later this week. Across 14 games with the Ducks in 2025, Sadiq hauled in 51 receptions for 560 yards and eight touchdowns. While Sadiq's numbers don't necessarily leap off the page, the 21-year-old showcased his elite athleticism at the 2026 scouting combine by running the 40-yard dash in 4.39 seconds and recording a 43.5" vertical jump. Dynasty managers may want to temper expectations for Sadiq in his first NFL season. However, Sadiq's long-term upside is tremendous, which allows him to profile as the clear top tight end in this season's first-year player pool.
