Tim Patrick Feels Back To Full Strength

Denver Broncos wide receiver Tim Patrick (Achilles) has had an unfortunate run of injury luck. He suffered a torn ACL during the 2022 offseason before a devastating Achilles tear leading up to the 2023 campaign. However, the 30-year-old said he's feeling back to full strength this year. "I felt like myself," Patrick said after practice "I felt twitchy. I felt like I was running [full speed]. Honestly, I think I'm right there where I was three years ago, right now." Patrick was a decent fantasy football contributor in his last full season (2021), as he racked up 53 receptions for 734 yards and five touchdowns. He posted a WR42 finish in PPR leagues. The last time he was on the field for a regular season game, Teddy Bridgewater was his quarterback. A lot has changed since then, and it will be interesting to see if he has any ability left after two major injuries. All that said, Denver has one of the weakest wide receiver groups in the NFL, so he could make at least a small impact in 2024. He should be left on waivers in traditional fantasy leagues, but fantasy managers in ultra-deep leagues can get him in the late rounds of drafts, as he's being selected outside the top 130 wide receivers.

Tim Patrick Looking Healthy This Offseason

Denver Broncos wide receiver Tim Patrick (Achilles) was one of the standout performers at minicamp practice earlier this week and is recovered from last summer's torn Achilles, the second straight season he suffered a season-ending injury in training camp. "[He brings] those intangibles," head coach Sean Payton said of Patrick. Patrick is 30 years old and hasn't played in the NFL since 2021, so he won't be drafted in most single-year leagues. Also not going in his favor is the uncertainty at the quarterback position for the Broncos entering training camp. However, with Jerry Jeudy now in Cleveland, Patrick has an opportunity to step into the No. 2 role behind Courtland Sutton if he can stay healthy. In his last season in 2021, Patrick was serviceable in fantasy with a career-high 53 catches, 734 receiving yards and five touchdowns in 16 starts.

Tim Patrick Participating In OTAs

Denver Broncos veteran wide receiver Tim Patrick (Achilles) is taking part in OTAs this week, according to NFL.com. The 30-year-old suffered a torn ACL during training camp in 2022 and a torn Achilles in 2023's training camp. It's been an unfortunate run of bad luck for the 2017 undrafted free agent, but hopefully, he'll make it to the start of the season in 2024. Patrick caught 164 passes for 1,476 yards and 11 touchdowns in his last 31 games, but considering he hasn't taken the field in two years, it's tough to get excited about his fantasy football outlook. Assuming Patrick's agility and speed haven't been completely zapped by major injuries, he's likely to start the season behind Courtland Sutton, Josh Reynolds, and Marvin Mims Jr. Troy Franklin and Lil'Jordan Humphrey could also pass him up on the depth chart, depending on how he's moving at this point in his career. The Broncos are likely to have a bottom-ten offense under rookie quarterback Bo Nix.

Tim Patrick Agrees To One-Year Deal With Broncos

Denver Broncos wide receiver Tim Patrick (Achilles) agreed to a one-year deal to remain with the organization for the 2024 season. The 30-year-old has missed each of the last two seasons after suffering a torn ACL and torn Achilles in his last two training camps, but it appears he's going to try to extend his career. In 2021, he caught 53 passes for 734 yards and five touchdowns. Although the new contract is a good sign for his recovery from two major injuries, he's unlikely to be on the fantasy radar in 2024. He's beyond the wide receiver age apex, and he's likely to be extremely rusty after two full years away from football.

Tim Patrick An Obvious Choice To Be Cut

The Athletic's Nick Kosmider writes that Denver Broncos wide receiver Tim Patrick (Achilles) stands out as an obvious cut candidate as the team enters the offseason at around $24 million over the salary cap threshold. Patrick has missed each of the last two years with injuries suffered during training camp -- first a torn ACL in 2022, and then a torn Achilles in 2023. The injuries came on the heels of a three-year, $30 million deal that he signed with the team in November of 2021, which came with $18.5 million guaranteed. The 30-year-old is set to count $15.5 million against the cap this year, but he has no guaranteed money left on his deal. Releasing him would free up $9.5 million in cap space. Patrick was one of the more underrated pass-catchers before his two season-ending injuries, but his fantasy stock has gone out the window due to his two unfortunate injuries the last two summers.

MRI Confirms Torn Achilles For Tim Patrick

An MRI exam on Monday revealed that Denver Broncos wide receiver Tim Patrick (Achilles) suffered a complete tear of his Achilles at training camp practice, according to a source. The team's worst suspicions were realized after Patrick suffered a non-contact injury at practice on Monday and had to be carted off the field. It's the second straight year he's suffered a season-ending injury at training camp after tearing his ACL in 2022. The 29-year-old was looking to come back strong this year as the No. 3 wideout behind Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton, but that won't be happening now. KJ Hamler will miss several more weeks with a heart condition while also recovering from pectoral surgery, so rookie Marvin Mims Jr. could open his first NFL season in a starting role in three-receiver sets in Denver's new offense.

Tim Patrick Believed To Have Torn Achilles

Updating previous reports, Denver Broncos wide receiver Tim Patrick (Achilles) is believed to have suffered a season-ending torn left Achilles at training camp practice on Monday, according to sources. Patrick suffered a non-contact injury on Monday and had to be carted off the field, and now he's expected to miss his second straight season after tearing his ACL in training camp in 2022. It's a really tough blow for a Broncos offense hoping to improve after an extremely disappointing campaign last year in quarterback Russell Wilson's first season with the team. KJ Hamler (heart, pectoral) and rookie Marvin Mims Jr. (hamstring) are also dealing with injuries in camp. Marquez Callaway and Kendall Hinton will be competing with them for the No. 3 role now behind Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton.

Broncos Fear Achilles Injury For Tim Patrick

Updating from a previous report, Denver Broncos wide receiver Tim Patrick is feared to have suffered an Achilles injury at practice on Monday. The 29-year-old went to the ground, threw his helmet, and screamed after a scary-looking non-contact injury. This is a brutal development for Patrick, who missed all of the 2022 season after tearing his ACL last August. There will likely be updates on his status soon, but if he's out for an extended period of time, Marvin Mims Jr. (hamstring) should have an easier time winning the WR3 job behind Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy. The future of Patrick's career could be in jeopardy if it's another major setback.

Tim Patrick Carted Off Monday

Denver Broncos wide receiver Tim Patrick (ankle, foot) was carted off the practice field at training camp on Monday with a left-leg injury. Trainers were checking his ankle/foot area before taking him off the field. It was a non-contact injury, which is usually never a good sign, but especially for Patrick, who suffered a torn right ACL that cost him all of the last season. The extent of his new injury is unknown, so fantasy managers will want to check back on the status of the 29-year-old either later on Monday or early Tuesday for more information. Patrick needed crutches to move around after getting off the cart, so initially it looks like a pretty serious injury that could jeopardize his availability for the start of the regular season.

Tim Patrick Takes Part In Offseason Practices

Denver Broncos wide receiver Tim Patrick (knee), who tore his ACL before the start of last season, was already participating in full-team drills during organized team activities and mandatory minicamp, leaving him on pace to be ready for the regular season opener on Sept. 10 against the Las Vegas Raiders. Patrick, who gained chemistry with quarterback Russell Wilson before his injury last offseason, is the team's best blocker at the position. He can also help head coach Sean Payton create mismatches when they use him in the slot. The 29-year-old doesn't expect to be worked back slowly into the offense. His return will be huge for Wilson and the Broncos offense as a whole, but Patrick may struggle to produce consistently in fantasy with Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton in front of him.
