DeVonta Smith Returns to Practice on Friday

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith (hamstring) was listed as a limited participant in practice on Friday, according to the team. It is great news for Smith's fantasy managers after he did not take part in Wednesday's practice due to a hamstring injury. The 27-year-old should be on the right track to suit up on Monday night in Week 3 against the Chicago Bears, but it is worth keeping a close eye on his status going into Saturday. Remember, tight end Dallas Goedert (knee) has not practiced at all this week and is expected to miss multiple weeks with a knee injury that he suffered in the Week 2 loss to the Tennessee Titans. With both Goedert and Smith banged up, it could put more emphasis on receivers Dontayvion Wicks and rookie first-rounder Makai Lemon going into the Week 3 contest. Smith is Philly's new WR1 with A.J. Brown out of town and is a must-start in fantasy leagues when he is active. The former first-rounder in 2021 came alive this past Sunday, catching 10 of his 13 targets for 117 yards and his first touchdown of the season.

DeVonta Smith Misses Practice With Hamstring Injury

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith (hamstring) did not practice on Thursday due to a hamstring injury, according to Zach Berman of The Athletic. It was just the first practice of the week for the Eagles, who do not play until Monday night against the Chicago Bears in Week 3, but Smith's status must now be closely monitored over the next two days. The 27-year-old is a must-start in fantasy football when he is active, especially now that A.J. Brown is no longer in town. He came out of the gate slow in the Week 1 win over the division-rival Washington Commanders, catching three of six targets for 53 yards, but he blew up in Sunday's victory over the Tennessee Titans, catching 10 of 13 targets for 117 yards and his first touchdown of the 2026 season. If Smith's hamstring injury is serious enough to keep him from playing on Monday night, Dontayvion Wicks would become a must-start in fantasy lineups with tight end Dallas Goedert (knee) expected to miss multiple weeks with a knee injury he suffered in Week 2. Rookie first-rounder Makai Lemon could also get much more involved in the passing attack if Smith is inactive in Week 3.

DeVonta Smith Taking Off as Philadelphia's No. 1 Receiver

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith already had the No. 1 job after A.J. Brown was traded to New England, and Week 2 looked like the first real payoff. Smith caught 10 of 13 targets for 117 yards and a touchdown against Tennessee after seeing six targets in the opener. He was also Jalen Hurts' go-to option on the final drive, catching four passes as Philadelphia moved into position for the game-winning score. The volume is the biggest thing here. Smith had 77 catches for 1,008 yards last season while still sharing the field with Brown, so there was always a path to more once that target competition disappeared. Through two games, he is up to 19 targets and 170 receiving yards. RotoBaller has Smith at WR9 for Week 3, and that feels a lot less aggressive after what he just did in Tennessee. Smith does not need another 13-target game every week to stay in the WR1 mix. If this is close to the kind of workload Philadelphia plans to give him, his fantasy ceiling has clearly moved up.

DeVonta Smith Looks Like True WR1 in Philly in Week 2 Win

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith was a disappointment in the season-opening win over the division-rival Washington Commanders, catching three of his six targets for 53 yards. It was his first game as the team's true WR1 in 2026 with A.J. Brown no longer in the picture. But Smith performed much more like a true No. 1 wideout for the Eagles in a near-loss on the road to the Tennessee Titans in Week 2. The 27-year-old had team highs across the board in catches (10), targets (13), receiving yards (117), and his first touchdown of the year in the 24-20 victory in Tennessee. It should have fantasy managers much more confident that Smith can reach a higher ceiling in the Eagles' new-look offense this year. In Week 3, Smith and the Eagles will travel to Chicago to take on a Bears team that might have just lost their starting QB for the foreseeable future. The Bears almost allowed a 40 spot to the Carolina Panthers in Week 1. Smith will be a must-start in fantasy football leagues next weekend.

DeVonta Smith's Stock Dips After Quiet Week 1

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith was still on the field for almost everything in Week 1, but the fantasy return wasn't there. He caught three of six targets for 53 yards against Washington while playing 52 of 55 offensive snaps. Six targets led the team. That part is fine. The concern is how crowded things can get when Philadelphia doesn't throw much. Jalen Hurts attempted only 25 passes, and Dallas Goedert turned five targets into 77 yards and two touchdowns. Dontayvion Wicks had four targets and finished with 73 yards and a score. Smith isn't losing his job or suddenly getting squeezed off the field, so this is a mild drop rather than a major warning sign. Still, a near-every-down role only goes so far if the Eagles keep the passing volume down and Goedert and Wicks are taking meaningful chunks of it. Smith comes out of Week 1 with his usage intact, but a little less margin for error than fantasy managers hoped.

DeVonta Smith Primed for Breakout as Eagles' Undisputed No. 1 WR

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith could be headed for a breakout season in 2026. The 27-year-old is poised to handle a significantly larger target share after teammate AJ Brown was traded to the New England Patriots. Smith had a total of nine catches and 136 yards across the two games that Brown missed last year, which likely represents his floor for the upcoming season. He is the undisputed No. 1 target in Philadelphia, offering a high-upside weapon for Jalen Hurts in all parts of the field. Perhaps the biggest question mark is whether Smith will take on a larger role around the goal line. He tallied a career-low four touchdowns last year, but he'll presumably get more goal-line targets following the departure of Brown, who scored seven touchdowns in 2025. As it stands, Smith has jumped to WR13 in RotoBaller's latest redraft rankings for 2026. He has an ADP of 31.4, which corresponds to the third round of fantasy drafts and makes him the 14th receiver off the board.

DeVonta Smith Taking on WR1 Responsibilities in 2026

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith will occupy a much bigger role this season following the departure of former teammate A.J. Brown via trade. Smith has been a top-20 fantasy receiver in three of his last four seasons, including a finish as the overall WR20 in PPR leagues last year. He was healthy for all 17 games in 2025, catching 77 passes for 1,008 yards and a career-low four touchdowns. We're not expecting a major bump in touchdowns since the Eagles like to run the ball around the goal line, but Smith certainly should earn more targets, catches, and yards with Brown gone. Plus, as one of the most talented No. 2 receivers in years past, Smith should have no trouble adapting to the No. 1 role, even though it means he'll be going up against other teams' top cornerbacks. Smith has jumped to WR13 in RotoBaller's latest redraft rankings, and he currently has an ADP of 32.1 (WR14).

DeVonta Smith Back to Full Participation

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith (hamstring) was a full participant Monday for the first time in three weeks, according to John Clark. Smith has been working his way back from a hamstring injury and was still limited during Philadelphia's joint practices with New England last week. Getting through a full practice is his biggest step yet with the regular season approaching. Smith played all 17 games last year and caught 77 passes for 1,008 yards and four touchdowns, giving him his third 1,000-yard season. He has missed a chunk of August, but Monday's workload suggests he's getting back up to speed after the layoff. With Smith now fully practicing again, the hamstring issue appears to be moving firmly in the right direction ahead of Week 1.

DeVonta Smith Listed as Limited on Wednesday

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith (hamstring) was listed as a limited practice participant at training camp on Wednesday, according to Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports. Rookie first-round receiver Makai Lemon (hamstring) was also limited as the two wideouts slowly work their way back from hamstring injuries. Smith was in full uniform on Monday to start the week and is making progress, although the Eagles could still decide to hold him out of their final two preseason games as a precaution. They will be even more cautious with Smith now that he is their unquestioned WR1 in 2026 with A.J. Brown now in New England. As things currently stand, fantasy managers should not be worried at all that Smith will not be ready for the start of the regular season in early September. With a bigger target share and higher potential fantasy ceiling than he has ever had before, the former first-rounder is now a low-end WR1/high-end WR2 target in upcoming drafts.

DeVonta Smith Appears to be Practicing on Monday

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith (hamstring) appears to be practicing in some capacity in training camp on Monday, according to Olivia Reiner of The Philadelphia Inquirer. Smith has not practiced with the rest of the team since Aug. 4 due to a hamstring injury, but he got in a workout before the team's preseason opener on Saturday against the Baltimore Ravens and appears to be ramping up. As long as the 27-year-old doesn't have any kind of setback with his hamstring, he doesn't seem to be in any danger of missing the Week 1 regular-season opener in September. It's unclear if Smith will be a candidate to play in the second preseason game this Saturday against the New England Patriots. With Pro Bowler A.J. Brown no longer in the picture in Philly, Smith will have the most upside of his career as he enters his sixth season in the NFL. He has already accumulated over 5,000 receiving yards and 31 touchdowns in 80 regular-season games, and with a larger target share coming in 2026, Smith has been boosted to a low-end WR1/high-end WR2 for fantasy purposes.
