Kenny Clark Will Make Cowboys Debut in Week 1

Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer said that newly-acquired defensive tackle Kenny Clark won't need long to get up to speed with the new system and will play in the Week 1 regular-season opener next Thursday, Sept. 4, versus the division-rival Philadelphia Eagles. "Quite honestly if Kenny Clark is not in this deal it may not have happened," Schottenheimer said. The Cowboys acquired Clark and two first-round picks from the Green Bay Packers in a blockbuster trade on Thursday that sent All-Pro pass-rusher Micah Parsons to Green Bay. The 29-year-old Clark, a former first-rounder in 2016, is a three-time Pro Bowler with 35 sacks in his nine NFL seasons. While he certainly isn't in the same conversation as Parsons as a pure pass-rusher, he should help fortify Dallas' defensive interior against the run.

Kenny Clark Heading to Dallas

The Dallas Cowboys acquired defensive tackle Kenny Clark and two first-round picks on Thursday from th Green Bay Packers in exchange for All-Pro pass-rusher Micah Parsons, a source tells Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. It's unclear yet if the Cowboys acquired any other players in this blockbuster deal. Clark is no Parsons, but he was a former first-rounder himself (27th overall) in 2016 out of UCLA and has made three Pro Bowls in his first nine NFL seasons. In 140 games (126 starts) for the Packers, Clark has recorded 35 sacks, 417 tackles (236 solo), 51 tackles for loss, 76 QB hits, 12 pass breakups, seven forced fumbles and eight fumble recoveries. He had just one sack in 17 regular-season starts in 2024, but Clark will certainly be a boost to Dallas' interior defensive line going forward. Clark had a career-high 7.5 sacks in 17 starts in 2023.

Kenny Clark, Packers Agree To Contract Extension

Green Bay Packers defensive tackle Kenny Clark agreed to a three-year, $64 million extension with the club. The Packers selected the 28-year-old with the No. 27 pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. In 123 games with Green Bay, he's totaled 379 tackles, seven forced fumbles, and six fumble recoveries. Clark also has 34 sacks on his resume, including a career-high 7.5 sacks during the 2023-24 campaign.

Kenny Clark Placed On COVID-19 Reserve

Green Bay Packers defensive tackle Kenny Clark (illness) was placed on the COVID-19 list and will likely not play against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 15. Clark has established himself as a star and his absence will likely bolster the Ravens' offense, but it's difficult to project which players this will most directly affect with quarterback Lamar Jackson's status still uncertain. If Jackson plays, Clark missing will boost running back Devonta Freeman and Jackson himself a decent amount. However, if Jackson misses, the Ravens offense projects to be so sluggish that Clark being out will hardly affect anything. Regardless of its possibly crucial fantasy impacts, this is more significant in terms of real life football than fantasy.

Kenny Clark Placed On COVID-19 List

Green Bay Packers defensive tackle Kenny Clark was placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list on Thursday, according to head coach Matt LaFleur. Clark is now unlikely to play this Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens unless he's vaccinated, remains asymptomatic and returns two negative tests 24 hours apart. Losing Clark would be a big loss for Green Bay's interior on the defensive line, as he's recorded 42 tackles (23 solo), seven tackles for loss, 13 QB hits and four sacks in 13 games played. The Packers defense/special teams is still in play as a top-10 fantasy unit this weekend against a Ravens team that could be without starting quarterback Lamar Jackson (ankle).

Kenny Clark Returning For Packers Defense

Green Bay Packers Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kenny Clark (groin) is set to return in Week 6 against the Buccaneers after being out since he suffered a groin injury in the season-opener. Cornerback Kevin King (quadriceps), who was injured in Week 4, will be a game-time decision. Clark's return is good news for a Packers Defense that has allowed 4.8 yards per carry (25th in the league) through their first four games. The 25-year-old had six sacks last year and also recorded a career-high 62 tackles, nine tackles for loss, seven QB hits and a forced fumble for Green Bay. Clark's return is bad news for Tampa running back Ronald Jones II, but Green Bay's defense is probably still just outside streaming recommendation in standard 12-team leagues in a game projected to be high-scoring.

Kenny Clark Signs Four-Year Extension With Packers

Green Bay Packers defensive lineman Kenny Clark signed a four-year extension on Saturday worth $70 million. The deal also includes a$25 million signing bonus with $37 million paid over the first two years of the contract. The deal makes him the highest-paid nose tackle in league history. Clark was due $7.69 million in 2020 while heading into the final year of his rookie contract, but he'll now receive at least $25 million with the entire signing bonus set to be paid out within five months. He's the fourth-highest paid interior defender in the league in average annual value ($17.5 million). Clark was a Pro Bowler last year while setting or matching career-highs with 62 tackles, nine tackles for loss and six sacks. He's still only 24 years old and should be considered a low-end starting defensive lineman on the interior in IDP leagues.

Packers Expected To Reach Extension With Kenny Clark

The Green Bay Packers are likely to sign defensive tackle Kenny Clark to a long-term contract extension before the start of the 2020 season. It was no surprise that the team exercised his fifth-year option on Wednesday. General manager Brian Gutenkunst called Clark "a dominant player on the defensive front" just last week. The 23-year-old had a career-high six sacks in 13 games last season and has accrued 10.5 quarterback takedowns in his three seasons with Green Bay. The Packers pass rush should be much improved in 2019.

Kenny Clark Dealing with High Ankle Sprain, Likely to Miss Some Time

Green Bay defensive lineman Kenny Clark (ankle) suffered a high ankle sprain during the Week 11 matchup against Baltimore. The injury came on a questionable play in which his ankle got rolled onto in the fourth quarter. He was later carted off the field. Overall it is good news that the injury is so minor when many feared worse. He is likely to return this season. Clark is a second year player who had been one of Green Bays most impactful defenders this year. This hurts Green Bays defense significantly, but they should not be trusted even when healthy. This is particularly true for next week when they take on a surging Pittsburgh team that is well suited to carve this defense up.
