Krys Barnes Gets One-Year Deal From Arizona

Free-agent linebacker Krys Barnes agreed to a one-year deal with the Cardinals. He has spent his three-year career in Green Bay, totaling 190 tackles and three sacks (35 games). However, he played only six games last season because of an ankle injury. That said, the 24-year-old likely won't have any IDP value in 2023-24. But the acquisition of Barnes is a step in the right direction for the Cardinals defense, a squad that needed an off-ball linebacker.

Krys Barnes Believed To Have High Ankle Sprain

Green Bay Packers linebacker Krys Barnes (ankle, calf), who was carted off in Week 1 on Sunday with his right leg in an air cast, is believed to have suffered a high ankle sprain and calf injury, according to a source. Barnes will miss some time, but the initial hope is that he could be back in a few weeks. It sounds as though the 24-year-old will be able to return this season, barring some sort of setback in his rehab. The third-year pro had 107 solo tackles, nine tackles for loss, two QB hits, two sacks, four passes defensed and two fumble recoveries in 29 games (23 starts) in his first two seasons in the NFL with Green Bay.

Krys Barnes Tests Positive For COVID-19

Green Bay Packers linebacker Krys Barnes (calf), who left the Thursday night game after the first half with a calf injury, tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday, according to a source. Barnes isn't experiencing symptoms as of now. Based on the timing of his positive test, he could be eligible to come off the list by the team's Week 10 game against the Jaguars. It will be a few days before Barnes can undergo an MRI exam after testing positive for the virus. Even if he's cleared from COVID-19 protocol in time for Week 10, there's no guarantee that his calf injury will allow him to play against Jacksonville. Keep an eye on whether Green Bay's defense has any high-risk close contacts from the Barnes positive.
