Buffalo Bills linebacker Terrel Bernard has signed a long-term extension with the organization. The two sides have agreed to a four-year, $50 million contract extension. The former third-round pick is well deserving of a new deal after back-to-back 100-plus tackle seasons. The Bills have now locked up their star linebacker through the 2029 campaign. Last season, Bernard registered 104 tackles, one sack, and two interceptions across 13 games with the Bills. The 25-year-old missed time due to injury, but still managed over 100 tackles, which is impressive. This is another smart move by Buffalo who recently extended wide receiver Khalil Shakir to a four-year deal as well.
Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott said on WGR550 radio that linebacker Terrel Bernard (quadriceps) will not play in the Week 18 regular-season finale on Sunday against the division-rival New England Patriots, but he "feels good" about his availability for next week's wild-card playoff game. Bernard suffered a quad injury in the Week 17 blowout win over the division-rival New York Jets and will now rest up so that he can be available for the Bills defense to kick off the postseason. The 25-year-old linebacker enters Week 18 action as the No. 34 linebacker in IDP fantasy formats with 104 tackles (55 solo), one sack, five tackles for loss, two interceptions, three pass breakups and a fumble recovery in his 13 starts this year. Getting him back for the playoffs will be important for a Bills defense that hasn't been as dominant as in year's past.
Buffalo Bills linebacker Terrel Bernard (ankle) exited during the second half of Sunday's game against the Tennessee Titans and was subsequently ruled out. He finished Week 7 with eight tackles, bringing his season total to 32. He also registered two tackles for loss and one fumble recovery. Baylon Spector entered the game in Bernard's place and will presumably earn more opportunities if the 25-year-old misses additional time.
Buffalo Bills linebacker Terrel Bernard (pectoral) is officially active for the Week 5 contest against the Houston Texans on Sunday. Bernard was listed as questionable to play with a pectoral injury, but he will be active as the Bills look to bounce back from a blowout loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 4. Cornerback Taron Johnson (forearm) and safety Taylor Rapp (concussion) have been ruled out, so an already thin Bills defense will have some question marks in their secondary against a strong Texans offense. Bernard will be returning to the field for the first time since suffering a pectoral injury in Week 2 against the division-rival Miami Dolphins. The 25-year-old has 11 combined tackles in his two games played and is back on the radar in IDP fantasy leagues now that he's back in action for Buffalo. The Bills' defense/special teams unit should be faded on the road in Week 5 against Houston.
Buffalo Bills linebacker Terrel Bernard (pectoral) is expected to play during the Week 5 matchup against the Houston Texans. This is great news after Bernard went down during the Week 2 matchup versus the Baltimore Ravens. He returned to practice last week and has slowly been working his way back. This is great news for the Bills defense considering Bernard had 143 combined tackles and 6.5 sacks last season. His return is going to be a major lift for this defense.
Buffalo Bills linebacker Terrel Bernard (pectoral) is listed as questionable to return during Thursday's game against the Miami Dolphins. Bernard made two tackles before being forced to the sideline during the first half of the game. The Bills will likely wait until after halftime to decide whether or not Bernard will return to this contest. His absence would certainly be a hit to this defense considering he led the team with 11 tackles in the season opener. Baylon Spector is listed as second on the depth chart, so he figures to get more snaps if Bernard is unable to return. UPDATE: Bernard was later ruled out of the game.
Buffalo Bills linebacker Terrel Bernard (ankle) said he feels very good health-wise after he missed the team's playoff lost against the Kansas City Chiefs due to an ankle injury. All signs point to Bernard being fully ready for training camp this summer and for the start of the 2024 regular season this fall. The 24-year-old was second in overall IDP fantasy points at the linebacker position in 2023, behind only Atlanta Falcons linebacker Foyesade Oluokun. In 17 regular-season games, Bernard racked up a career-high 143 tackles (84 solo), a career-high 6.5 sacks, 10 tackles for loss, nine QB hits, three interceptions, five passes defended and three fumble recoveries. As long as he's healthy in 2024, Bernard is going to be in play as a weekly starting linebacker in IDP formats.
Buffalo Bills linebacker Terrel Bernard (leg) was taken off the field in the third quarter on a cart during Monday's wild-card playoff game against the Pittsburgh Steelers with a cast on his lower right leg and a towel over his head. Dorian Williams replaced Bernard after he left. In addition to Bernard, the Bills also lost cornerback Christian Benford to a knee injury earlier in this game and can ill-afford any more injuries on that side of the ball. The 24-year-old Bernard was a key player on defense all year for Buffalo, so it would be bad news for their defense moving forward if they advance past the Steelers to play in the Divisional Round. Bernard's injury didn't look good. We'd be surprised if he comes back into this game, let alone for the rest of the postseason.
Buffalo Bills linebackers Terrel Bernard (concussion) and A.J. Klein (back) are both active for the Monday night contest against the Denver Broncos. Bernard suffered a concussion on Sunday night in the Week 9 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals but was able to clear the league's concussion protocol and will play to finish out Week 10 action. Meanwhile, Klein will return after missing last week with a back injury. It's good news for a Bills defense that will be without safety Micah Hyde (neck) and cornerback Christian Benford (hamstring). Bernard comes into this game as a top-10 linebacker in IDP leagues in terms of overall fantasy points through nine weeks.
Buffalo Bills linebacker Terrel Bernard (concussion) has been ruled out for the rest of the Sunday night game against the Cincinnati Bengals due to a concussion. Tyrel Dodson is now in at the Mike linebacker spot, with Dorian Williams in at outside linebacker. Before suffering his head injury, Bernard had two assisted tackles. The 24-year-old linebacker entered the Week 9 contest against Cincinnati as the No. 4 linebacker in overall fantasy points in IDP leagues with 46 tackles (30 assists), two sacks, four passes defensed, two interceptions and three fumble recoveries through eight games played. Losing him for the rest of the game is a big blow to Buffalo's defense as they look to slow quarterback Joe Burrow down for the rest of the second half. Bernard will need to clear the league's concussion protocol before being allowed to play next Monday night in Week 10 against the Denver Broncos.
