Montreal Canadiens defenseman Lane Hutson established the longest point streak by a rookie blue-liner in franchise history when he recorded a power-play assist in Monday's 3-2 shootout win against Anaheim. Montreal Canadiens winger Patrik Laine stayed hot with a two-point effort in Monday's 3-2 shootout victory against Anaheim. The Finnish forward scored a power-play goal and recorded an even-strength assist. A knee injury delayed Laine's Canadiens debut, but he was well worth the wait. Washington won't return to action until Thursday, giving Wilson extra time to recover. He's in danger of missing his first game of the season. The Colorado Avalanche have acquired goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood in a trade with the San Jose Sharks. Forward Givani Smith will also move to Denver, with goaltender Alexandar Georgiev and forward Nikolai Kovalenko going the other way, along with a couple of draft picks. Goaltending has been a major weak point for the Avalanche this season. Blackwood will be tasked with providing some stability in the net alongside Scott Wedgewood, who was recently acquired from Nashville. Wedgewood has started well with his new team, so Blackwood will need to be sharp to receive regular action. He's posted a 6-9-3 record this season with a 3.00 goals-against average, a .910 save percentage, and one shutout. Blackwood's fantasy stock receives a huge boost from the trade, as he has joined a much stronger team.

Alexandar Georgiev Traded To Sharks
Colorado Avalanche goaltender Alexandar Georgiev has been traded to the San Jose Sharks. The Avalanche also departed with forward Nikolai Kovalenko, a 2025 fifth-round pick, and a 2026 second-round pick in the deal, receiving goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood and forward Givani Smith. This is the second goalie deal in a short space of time for the Avalanche, who picked up Scott Wedgewood from Nashville on Nov. 30. With its No. 1, Georgiev, off form, Colorado has registered a league-worst .880 save percentage this season. Georgiev, who's been the league leader in wins for two consecutive seasons, has finished 8-7-0 across 17 starts this campaign. He will need to outplay Vitek Vanecek in San Jose to earn regular playing time.
