Winnipeg Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck recorded his 40th career shutout as the team beat Colorado 1-0 on Thursday. Hellebuyck became the sixth American goalie with at least 40 shutouts in league history with a 35-save effort. The Avalanche entered the contest having scored multiple goals in each of their 13 games so far this season. Hellebuyck has looked almost superhuman at times in 2024-25, logging a 10-1-0 record with a league-high three shutouts. He has allowed 1.91 goals while registering a .932 save percentage. Another tough divisional rival awaits Hellebuyck next as the Jets host Dallas on Saturday. Hellebuyck lost all three starts in the matchup last season, allowing eight goals.

San Jose Sharks defenseman Jake Walman (upper body) will not play on Thursday due to an upper-body injury. Walman has had a weird couple of weeks, first contributing seven points in a three-game stretch last week, then getting healthy scratched for disciplinary reasons on Tuesday, and now missing Thursday's game with a new injury. It's unfortunate timing, as Walman has been on a tear recently, but hopefully the 28-year-old's injury isn't severe. Detroit Red Wings center Dylan Larkin played a pivotal role in Wednesday's 4-1 win at Chicago.
