Jason Heyward To The Injured List, James Outman Recalled
The Los Angeles Dodgers placed outfielder Jason Heyward (knee) on the 10-day injured list with a left-knee contusion, according to manager Dave Roberts. The good news is that Heyward's meniscus and ligaments are intact. In a corresponding move, the Dodgers recalled outfielder James Outman from Triple-A Oklahoma City. The 34-year-old Heyward could be back shortly after the All-Star break as a left-handed-hitting platoon outfielder for LA. Heyward has only 118 at-bats in 2024 due to injuries and is hitting a weak .203/.299/.398 with four homers, 20 RBI and 16 runs scored. Outma, 27, was sent to the farm in May and hit .285/.396/.556 with 10 homers and 22 RBI in 182 plate appearances for Oklahoma City. He figures to see occasional starts against righties. On Friday, Miguel Vargas enters the outfield picture in left field and will bat seventh for the Blue.

However, with his recent play at Triple-A he could rejoin the Dodgers fairly soon and could be worth adding in deeper redraft leagues as he should provide a solid combination of power and speed.

The demotion is good news for fantasy managers that swooped on Pages quickly. The 27-year-old Outman will now need to make some adjustments in the minors before he'll get another opportunity against right-handed pitching in the big leagues.

He is not a recommended DFS play for Sunday's slate.

He will look to make it three games in a row with a homer versus Chris Paddack and the Twins on Wednesday.

Part of one of the best lineups in the league, Outman should have plenty of counting stats to go along offering power and speed. Despite having hot and cold results as a rookie, he is worth a look in all formats.

The Dodgers will opt to use Kike Hernandez in center field versus right-hander Brandon Pfaadt on Wednesday. Outman is 0-for-5 with three strikeouts over the first two games in this series. The Dodgers can't afford to use another game, so they will shake it up with Hernandez on Wednesday.
