Jo Adell Homers Twice In The Same Inning

The Los Angeles Angels went off at the plate in their 11-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays in Thursday's series finale, and outfielder Jo Adell was at the center of the offensive outburst. Adell went 2-for-4 in the game with two home runs, two runs scored and a team-leading four RBI, with both of his long balls coming in the fifth inning when the Angels broke the game wide open. The 26-year-old's first shot was a solo blast off Zack Littell, with his second homer being of the three-run variety off reliever Mason Englert. It was great to see from Adell, who came into Thursday's game hitting just .185 (5-for-27) with no homers, two walks and eight strikeouts in eight games played. The big day raised Adell's season average to .226 and his OPS to .746. Adell had gone hitless in his last 10 at-bats before Thursday. Don't expect Adell to provide a useful batting average, but he has the ability to go on power binges like this.

Jo Adell Starting On Tuesday

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Jo Adell (hip) is returning to the starting lineup on Tuesday evening when the Angels face the St. Louis Cardinals. Adell has missed the previous two contests due to this injury. However, this injury was not serious, and he will make a quick return to the starting nine. This evening, he will cover center field and bat in the eight-hole. Over the first two games of the campaign, Adell has gone 2-for-4 with a 1:1 BB:K. Last summer, the former 10th overall pick began to turn the corner on his slow start to his MLB career. Over 130 contests, Adell posted a .207/.280/.402 line but launched a career-best 20 long balls and tallied 15 doubles. He also swiped a career-high 15 bags. This evening, he is worth a look as a value play in DFS facing St. Louis southpaw Matthew Liberatore.

Jo Adell Remains Out Against Cardinals

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Jo Adell (hip) remains out of the starting lineup on Monday for the start of a series in St. Louis against the Cardinals. Kyren Paris will make another start in center field and will hit eighth against Cardinals right-hander Miles Mikolas. Adell is dealing with tightness in his left hip. While it's not considered a very serious injury, it will keep the 25-year-old out of action for the second straight day. For what it's worth, Adell says he's improving and plans to return to the field on Tuesday at Busch Stadium. In just two games played so far in 2025, Adell has gone 2-for-4 with a walk and a strikeout in last weekend's series against the Chicago White Sox. Paris is 2-for-6 with a solo home run, a stolen base and two strikeouts in his three games played. He has never faced Mikolas in his career and will be a low-upside DFS option in his second straight start in center.

Jo Adell Feeling Better, Hopes To Return On Monday

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Jo Adell (hip) is feeling better and hopes to return to the starting nine on Monday when the Angels face the St. Louis Cardinals. Adell was removed early from Saturday's contest after suffering this hip injury. However, it does not sound serious, and Adell may only miss one game. On Sunday, Kyren Paris will cover center field and bat in the nine-hole. Last season, the 25-year-old began to turn the corner on his slow start to his MLB career. Adell launched a career-best 20 long balls and swiped 15 bags. However, he held a high 27.9 percent strikeout rate and drew walks at a modest 7.9 percent walk rate. Adell also generated an elite 76.7 mph bat speed and placed in the 86th percentile in sprint speed. When he does return, he is a viable depth outfielder in category leagues.

Jo Adell Exits Early On Saturday

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Jo Adell (leg) was pulled from Saturday's contest with an apparent leg injury. Adell sustained this injury while running to first base. He was replaced by Kyren Paris. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status leading up to their next contests on Sunday afternoon. Before exiting, Adell tallied one hit and a walk. During his first game of the campaign, Adell went 1-for-3 in the batter's box with a strikeout. The former 10th overall pick began to turn the corner at the major league level last season as he went deep 20 times and added 15 doubles. He generated a strong 11.7 percent barrel rate and placed in the 98th percentile in bat speed. If Adell were to miss time, Paris would likely see most of the opportunities in right field.

Jo Adell, Nolan Schanuel To Play In Spring Opener

MLB.com's Rhett Bollinger reports that Los Angeles Angels outfielder Jo Adell (oblique) and first baseman Nolan Schanuel (leg) are both scheduled to play in the team's Cactus League opener on Saturday against the division-rival Seattle Mariners. Adell is fully recovered from the left-oblique strain that caused him to end last season on the injured list. The 25-year-old will be fully ready for Opening Day and will be competing with Mickey Moniak for regular playing time in center field this year in Anaheim with Mike Trout (knee) moving to right field regularly. Adell isn't going to help anyone in the batting average department, but his mix of power and speed is worth taking a chance on for outfield depth in fantasy. Schanuel dealt with a bruised right leg to end last season but is also fully healthy and ready to go. The 23-year-old lefty lacks the power to be considered a realistic option in shallow mixed fantasy leagues.

Jo Adell, Mickey Moniak The Options In Center Field For Angels

With Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout (knee) moving to right field on a full-time basis in 2025, it means that Jo Adell and Mickey Moniak will play center field for the team. Moniak has played the position the most, but Adell had a very good year in right field in 2024, and the Angels will likely want to keep his bat in the lineup as much as possible. Manager Ron Washington said a few days ago that Taylor Ward will be the left fielder. The 25-year-old Adell has only started 15 games in the majors in center field, but he was a Gold Glove finalist in right field last year. Adell is the more attractive bat in fantasy for his power and speed -- he hit 20 home runs and stole 15 bags last year -- but his strikeout rate was still too high and hit he just .207. He also had a nice 44.7% hard-hit rate, but his struggles against right-handed pitching could mean he's ticketed for more of a platoon role in center with Moniak.

Jo Adell, Angels Avoid Arbitration

According to Robert Murray of FanSided.com, the Los Angeles Angels and outfielder Jo Adell have settled on a one-year, $2.1 million contract to avoid salary arbitration. Adell has spent his entire professional career with the Angels after being drafted by them with the 10th overall pick in the 2017 MLB draft. Last summer, Adell caught fire in April, posting a stellar .327/.379/.615 slash line with four home runs and five stolen bases but struggled the rest of the season with a .190/.266/.368 line. However, he was able to hit a career-high 20 long balls and swipe 15 bags last season. He continued to hit the ball hard with an 11.7% barrel rate and a 44.7% hard-hit but held a hefty 27.9% strikeout rate. Adell should be viewed as a decent target for power and speed that comes with risk given his lack of contact skills.

Jo Adell Moved To 60-Day Injured List

The Los Angeles Angels moved outfielder Jo Adell (oblique) to the 60-day injured list on Monday, officially putting an end to his 2024 season. In corresponding moves, the Angels selected the contract of left-hander Jose Suarez and optioned right-hander Hans Crouse to Triple-A Salt Lake after Sunday's game. Adell was never really a realistic candidate to return this year with only a few weeks left after he strained his left oblique during the contest last Friday against the division-rival Texas Rangers. The 25-year-old will now have plenty of time to rehab his oblique before heading into spring training next February. Adell fanned 126 times in 451 plate appearances in a career-high 130 games this year, but he also had his first 20-homer season while driving in 62 and stealing 15 bases. He should enter 2025 as the Halos' everyday right fielder with a decent power/speed profile.

Jo Adell Hits 10-Day Injured List With Oblique Strain

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Jo Adell (oblique) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Saturday afternoon with a left-oblique strain. The outfielder left Friday's game early and will now sit out for at least the next ten games. In addition, Angels outfielder Kevin Pillar was also placed on the injured list. Since August 17, Adell has begun to find some rhythm at the plate holding a modest .242/.299/.435 line with four doubles, one triple, two home runs, eight RBI, and a stolen base. Fantasy managers should expect Jack Lopez and Mickey Moniak to see the majority of starts in right field while Adell remains out. This evening, Moniak will cover right field and bat fifth in what could be a favorable matchup against Texas Rangers right-hander Jack Leiter.
