Is Jo Adell Worth Buying Low on Ahead of Potential Power Surge?

Entering play on Thursday, Los Angeles Angels outfielder Jo Adell was hitting .242/.289/.386 with eight home runs, 29 RBI, 19 runs scored, and two stolen bases across 232 plate appearances. Adell put together a breakout season from a power perspective in 2025, logging an excellent 17.2% barrel rate and clubbing 37 home runs in just 573 plate appearances. His numbers have come crashing down to earth so far this season, as his barrel rate has fallen all the way down to 8.7%. However, Adell's power bat has come to life a bit in recent weeks, as he's hit four home runs in his last 16 games after hitting just four in his first 40. The 27-year-old appears to have gotten back to his old approach at the plate of sacrificing contact for power, as he's struck out in 30.1% of his plate appearances in May after posting a 20.1% strikeout rate through the end of April. While Adell's batting average could continue to drop, he may be on the verge of a power breakout and could be worth buying low on for fantasy managers desperate to add slugging to their roster.

Jo Adell Sacrificing Power for Contact Early in 2026?

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Jo Adell was one of the breakout success stories of the 2025 season, hitting 37 home runs in 573 plate appearances. Through his first 112 plate appearances of 2026, the 27-year-old is hitting .269/.313/.375 with three home runs, 15 RBI, 12 runs scored, and one stolen base. Adell's power hasn't quite been where it was in 2025, as his barrel rate is down from 17.2% to 5.1%. Adell may be sacrificing power for contact, as he's also cut his strikeout rate from 26.4% to 19.6%. While Adell would be able to hit for both power and average in an ideal world, fantasy managers would likely prefer him to rediscover his 30-homer form. If he can get back to hitting the long ball consistently while holding some of his contact gains, Adell could put together his most complete MLB season to date.

Can Jo Adell Repeat 2025 Power Breakout?

A former top prospect, Los Angeles Angels outfielder Jo Adell finally had his long-awaited breakout season in 2025. Across 573 plate appearances, the 26-year-old posted a .236/.293/.485 slash line with 37 home runs, 98 RBI, 63 runs scored, and five stolen bases. Adell logged an elite 17.2% barrel rate, the best of his career by nearly six percentage points. Heading into 2026, Adell looks to have an everyday role in the middle of the Angels lineup. However, there are some warning signs in his profile. With a 5.8% walk rate and 26.4% strikeout rate, Adell's plate skills remain questionable and could lead to both a poor batting average and a drop in the batting order. Additionally, Adell has largely graded out as a well below-average defensive outfielder throughout his career, which could lead to a drop in playing time if he has any struggles with the bat. Still, Adell's power is real, and the Angels are not exactly swimming in outfield talent behind him. As a mid-round power bat, Adell could be a quality outfield option for fantasy managers once again in 2026.

Jo Adell Returning on Saturday

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Jo Adell (illness) is back in the starting lineup ahead of Saturday's game against the Seattle Mariners. Adell has missed each of the last two games while battling vertigo. In fact, Adell has been held out of the lineup in four of the last five contests due to the issue. It appears that Adell is feeling good enough to play on Saturday. He'll bat cleanup and cover right field during Saturday's contest. Fantasy managers better make sure to get him into their lineups. In September, Adell is hitting .355 with five homers and 12 RBI in nine games.

Jo Adell Taking a Seat on Friday

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Jo Adell (illness) is absent from the starting lineup ahead of Friday's game against the Seattle Mariners. Adell will now take a seat for the fourth time in the last five games. He continues to battle a case of vertigo that will sideline him for a second straight game. It doesn't sound like this is something that will land Adell on the injured list. For now, fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day. Chris Taylor will take over in right field and bat second on Friday. Fantasy managers should check back on Saturday for another update on Adell.

Jo Adell Scratched With Vertigo on Thursday

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Jo Adell (illness) is dealing with vertigo and has been scratched from the team's lineup against the Seattle Mariners on Thursday, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports. Chris Taylor will take Adell's place in right field and hit fifth versus right-hander Bryce Miller, while Luis Rengifo will play second base and bat sixth. After Adell missed the Angels' first two games this week with vertigo, he felt well enough to play in their 4-3 win over the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday. Adell went 0-for-3 in that game, but this has been a career year for the former top prospect. Adell has slashed .242/.304/.504 with 35 home runs, 94 RBI, 57 runs scored, and five stolen bases over 516 plate appearances in his age-26 season. Fantasy managers should check back on Friday to see if he returns to the Angels' lineup.

Jo Adell Back in the Lineup Against Twins

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Jo Adell (illness) is starting in right field and is batting cleanup for Wednesday's game against the visiting Minnesota Twins and right-hander Taj Bradley. Adell has been dealing with vertigo since Sunday, which caused him to miss the first two games of the series against Minnesota. The 26-year-old appears to be feeling better now, though, and will return to action against a pitcher that he has only faced twice in his career. Adell has one hit against Bradley. He's been one of the bright spots in 2025 for another disappointing Angels squad, hitting .243/.303/.507 with an .811 OPS and career-highs in home runs (35), RBI (94), and runs scored (57) in 136 games played. Get him back into your starting lineups, but also be aware that he's been scratched from the lineup each of the past two days.

Jo Adell Scratched from Angels' Lineup with Vertigo

The Los Angeles Angels scratched outfielder Jo Adell (illness) from Monday's lineup against the Minnesota Twins after he began experiencing vertigo symptoms. Adell has been in the midst of a breakout season, slashing .243/.303/.507 with 35 home runs while emerging as a key power threat in the middle of the order. His absence leaves the Angels without one of their most productive bats, and rookie Matthew Lugo will take his place in right field while batting seventh. Lugo has struggled in limited action, hitting just .213/.226/.475 over 27 games, offering minimal fantasy upside against Simeon Woods-Richardson tonight.

Jo Adell Playing on Monday

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Jo Adell (illness) is back in the starting lineup ahead of Monday's game against the Minnesota Twins. Adell was forced to make an early exit from Sunday's game after experiencing nausea. Luckily, Adell is feeling better on Monday and is back in the starting lineup without missing a game. He'll bat fifth and cover right field during Monday's contest. Adell has been on fire at the plate lately with 11 hits, five home runs, and 12 RBI over the last seven games. The 26-year-old has been too hot at the plate to leave on the waiver wire right now.

Jo Adell Exits Early With Illness; Angels Monitor Slugger's Status

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Jo Adell exited Sunday's game after reportedly feeling nauseous, according to manager Ray Montgomery. He was replaced by Matthew Lugo in the top of the ninth inning and finished 1-for-4 with a strikeout and a two-run home run in the first inning, his 35th of the season. Adell is likely day-to-day as the Angels monitor his availability for Monday's game. The 25-year-old is slashing .243/.303/.507 with an .810 OPS and has clearly unlocked his power stroke, making this his most productive season as a big leaguer.
