Vikings Agree With Trent Sherfield On One-Year Deal

The Minnesota Vikings agreed to a one-year deal worth $1.79 million with former Buffalo Bills wide receiver Trent Sherfield on Thursday. Sherfield will receive a $400,000 signing bonus. The 28-year-old former undrafted free agent out of Vanderbilt spent the first three years of his career playing for the Arizona Cardinals before one-year stints with the San Francisco 49ers, Miami Dolphins and Bills in 2023. He caught 11 of his 22 targets for 86 yards and one touchdown in 17 regular season games (one start) in Buffalo last year. Sherfield has a grand total of 78 receptions for 930 yards and five touchdowns on 141 targets in his six years in the NFL and won't be on the fantasy radar in 2024 as he competes with Brandon Powell for a reserve role in Minnesota behind Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison.

Trent Sherfield Active Versus Jets

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Trent Sherfield (ankle) is officially active for Sunday's game against the New York Jets. He had been listed as questionable but was trending in the right direction after practicing in a full capacity on Friday. The 27-year-old has just seven catches for 53 yards this season and isn't on the fantasy radar.

Trent Sherfield Misses Practice On Wednesday

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Trent Sherfield (ankle) was listed as a non-participant in Wednesday's walkthrough practice. Sherfield injured his ankle in the first half of the Bills' Monday night loss and did not return. Sherfield will have two more chances to upgrade his practice status before Buffalo takes on the New York Jets at home in Week 11. Even if the 27-year-old wideout suits up in that contest, he doesn't carry much fantasy value. He has just seven catches for 53 yards on the year.

Trent Sherfield Will Not Return On Monday Night

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Trent Sherfield (ankle) was injured during the team's two-point conversion in the second quarter and then was ruled out for the rest of the game at the start of the third. Sherfield didn't see any targets in this one as he served more of a depth role with the receiving corps. His absence shouldn't affect the rest of the receivers' fantasy value, and he's likely only rostered in very deep leagues. Fantasy managers will have to stay tuned to see if he needs to miss any more time after this game.

Trent Sherfield Makes Bills Final Roster

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Trent Sherfield made the team's 53-man roster after final cutdowns earlier this week. Buffalo will open the season with Stefon Diggs, Gabe Davis, Sherfield, Khalil Shakir and Deonte Harty at the receiver position. The 27-year-old should be left to the waiver wire in standard-sized fantasy leagues to begin the 2023 season, but he could become interesting in deeper leagues if he ends up operating as the team's starting slot receiver. He's on his fourth team in the last four seasons and put up career-highs in catches (30), receiving yards (417) and touchdowns (two) in 17 games (four starts) with the Miami Dolphins in 2022. Sherfield's main competition for targets will be Shakir.

Trent Sherfield Receives Praise From Offensive Coordinator

Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey said that wide receiver Trent Sherfield has done a great job of learning things at training camp and that he adds a lot to the team's offense. Sherfield isn't going to be drafted in most fantasy leagues this fall, but the 27-year-old is a name to file away. He was a favorite of quarterback Josh Allen in spring workouts after coming over from the Miami Dolphins in the offseason. Sherfield set career-highs in 2022 with 30 receptions, 417 yards and two touchdowns on 51 targets in 17 games (four starts). He's still competing with Khalil Shakir for the No. 3 receiver role in Buffalo this summer. If Stefon Diggs or Gabe Davis miss time with an injury this year, Sherfield could become attractive as a waiver-wire pickup.

Trent Sherfield Impressing In Camp

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Trent Sherfield has reportedly stood out early in camp. The 27-year-old has stepped up and been a favorite of quarterback Josh Allen. Sherfield was brought in as depth, but might be able to earn himself the No. 3 receiver job. He's expected to compete with Khalil Shakir and Deonte Harty for the third wideout spot on the roster. He finished with 30 receptions, 417 yards, and two touchdowns in 17 games with the Miami Dolphins last season. Sherfield still has a long way to go before winning to job, but he appears to be the favorite right now. Possibly, he has some low-end PPR value, but we'll wait and see what happens in training camp.

Bills Sign Trent Sherfield To One-Year Deal

The Buffalo Bills signed former Miami Dolphins and San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Trent Sherfield to an undisclosed one-year deal on Monday. Sherfield spent the first three seasons of his NFL career witht he Arizona Cardinals and caught a combined 28 passes for 340 yards and one touchdown on 48 targets over 44 games (four starts) in the desert. He spent 2021 with the Niners and last year with Miami. Sherfield caught a career-high 30 passes (51 targets) for 417 yards and two touchdowns in 17 games (four starts) in 2022 for the Dolphins. The 27-year-old receiver will give the Bills more depth at the position behind Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis after they parted ways with slot man Isaiah McKenzie this offseason.

Trent Sherfield Commands Six Targets Sunday

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Trent Sherfield turned six targets into two catches for 30 yards against the New England Patriots in Week 17. Sherfield has emerged as Miami's clear No. 3 receiver but hasn't seen quite enough volume to justify rostering him in most fantasy leagues. He has surpassed double-digit fantasy points just twice in 2022 and has only three games with more than 50 receiving yards. Managers should view him as a steady low-end producer with some relevance in deeper leagues.

Trent Sherfield Catches One Pass Sunday Night

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Trent Sherfield hauled in one of four targets for just seven yards during Sunday's loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. Miami's passing production faltered in Week 14 and Sherfield was no exception. Although the 26-year-old remains the No. 3 receiver behind Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, he's nothing more than a deep-league FLEX play going forward.
