Derwin James Facing Old Teammate

Los Angeles Chargers safety Derwin James will get his first opportunity to face former teammate and friend Dalvin Cook when LA squares off against the Vikings on Sunday. James has faced Cook plenty of times in practice, but this will be the first game against one of the NFL's leading rushers. To go along with Cook, Pro Bowl wide receiver Adam Thielen will be returning to the field, and Kirk Cousins will be working on padding his resume as he's looking like one of the top passers in the league. The Chargers Defense has been better lately, but this matchup looks like a beastly one for the squad. Owners are probably able to make a better choice with a different one this week.

Derwin James, Adrian Phillips Activated From Injured Reserve

The Los Angeles Chargers activated safeties Derwin James (foot) and Adrian Phillips (forearm) from Injured Reserve on Saturday. James, an All-Pro in his rookie season in 2018, practiced all week without any issues and will make his season debut in Week 13 against the Broncos. Head coach Anthony Lynn said he will closely monitor both players' snap counts this Sunday, but their returns are a huge boost to a Bolts defense that was pretty strong to begin with. Against rookie quarterback Drew Lock (thumb), who is expected to be making his NFL debut this Sunday, the Chargers Defense is worth streaming.

Derwin James Nears Activation

Los Angeles Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn told the media on Friday that the team hasn't decided whether to activate safety Derwin James for this week's game, but he said that James has practiced all week at full health. It seems likely that James will be back on the field on Sunday, and it would be the perfect time. While the Chargers Defense isn't anything to write home about, it's a solid corps that gets to face a good situation this week. Denver just put up their franchise's worst offensive performance in over 25 years last week by only gaining 134 total yards, and they're contemplating starting Drew Lock, a rookie who was just activated from Injured Reserve and has never started an NFL game. This is time to roll with LA.
