Jedrick Wills Jr. News
Cleveland Browns left tackle Jedrick Wills (ankle) is expected to return on Thursday night against the Denver Broncos, but right tackle Jack Conklin (knee) will not be able to play, according to sources. The return of Wills is good news for backup quarterback Case Keenum, who is taking over for the injured Baker Mayfield (shoulder) in Week 7. Conklin's absence could be a big one, though, as Broncos pass-rusher Von Miller rushes from the left side on the right tackle. Miller could be going up against either James Hudson or Blake Hence, and the Browns offense will have their work cut out for them, as they'll also be missing running backs Nick Chubb (calf) and Kareem Hunt (calf), and wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. (shoulder) is facing an uphill battle to play.
Cleveland Browns left tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. (ankle) will miss Sunday's matchup vs. the Chargers due to an ankle injury. The move is another blow to the Cleveland offensive line, as either Blake Hance or James Hudson will be tasked with making their first career start to protect Baker Mayfield's blindside. How much the loss of Willis affects the Browns' dynamic backfield duo of Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt remains to be seen, but Chubb has been able to amass at least 83 yards on the ground in each of the first four games of the 2021 season. Willis' next opportunity to suit up will come in Week 6 against a similarly sack-focused defense in Arizona.
Cleveland Browns left tackle Jedrick Wills (ankle) is questionable for Week 2 against the Houston Texans after getting injured in the Week 1 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. He did not practice all week. Chris Hubbard (triceps), Wills' primary backup, has already been ruled out for this Sunday. If Wills is unable to play, rookie James Hudson III or Blake Hance would be expected to start at left tackle against the Texans. Hudson is a fourth-rounder that worked at left and right tackle in training camp. Hance made his NFL debut in the playoffs as an injury replacement last year while filling in at guard and at left tackle. This is a concerning development for the protection of quarterback Baker Mayfield, but the nice matchup against Houston will keep him as a high-end QB2 this weekend.
