William Carrier Faces Long-Term Absence Following Surgery
Carolina Hurricanes left wing William Carrier (lower body) is expected to miss "at least a couple of months" following surgery. The power forward has already sat out 10 games, and it's likely we won't see him again until the final weeks of the regular season, assuming he returns at all before the playoffs. Carrier has recorded nine points (four goals, five assists) and 136 hits in 39 games during his first season in Carolina. Juha Jaaska has seen regular action during his absence. The Finnish forward has not provided any fantasy value, registering one assist in 11 games along with 14 hits.

Nikolaj Ehlers A Game-Time Call Friday
Winnipeg Jets winger Nikolaj Ehlers (illness) is a game-time decision for Friday's matchup against the Utah Hockey Club. He is dealing with an illness and may miss his 10th game of the season. Ehlers has missed quite a bit of action but remains on track for a career year. He averages a point per game through 40 contests, with 14 goals and 26 assists. Cole Perfetti joined the second line for the morning skate in Ehlers' absence. The 23-year-old will have added fantasy value if Ehlers is unable to play on Friday. However, Perfetti is currently experiencing a dismal offensive stretch, having recorded 13 scoreless outings over his last 14 appearances.

Noah Dobson Heads To Injured Reserve
New York Islanders defenseman Noah Dobson (lower body) has been placed on IR due to an injury suffered on Monday against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Dobson will be sidelined week-to-week, but his injury will not require surgery. The Islanders already have trouble scoring goals, so missing their powerplay quarterback and top offensive defenseman will hurt them all the more. In his absence, Ryan Pulock took over powerplay duties, but recently signed Tony DeAngelo could supplant Pulock once he gets more familiar with the team.

Patrick Kane Not Ready To Return
Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane (upper body) won't play on Saturday against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Kane also missed Thursday's game, but head coach Todd McLellan said that Kane remains day-to-day. It is unfortunate timing for the 36-year-old, who had been on a heater recently, scoring 16 points in his last 13 games. Vladimir Tarasenko saw more powerplay time on Thursday, and should remain in that spot while Kane recovers. He makes for a decent add in fantasy.

Matthew Knies Has No Timeline To Return, Deemed Day-To-Day
Toronto Maple Leafs winger Matthew Knies (upper body) is day-to-day after leaving Wednesday's game early with an upper-body injury. Knies wasn't given a timeline to return, so it is unlikely that he will come back for Saturday's game against the Ottawa Senators. Knies has been a key part of Toronto's first line this season, scoring 18 goals and 13 assists while adding 81 shots and 109 hits. Bobby McMann will take Knies' spot on the first line and could be a quality addition in fantasy as he also has a spot on the Leafs' top powerplay unit.

Anthony Stolarz Returns To Practice, Expected Back Soon
Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Anthony Stolarz (knee) skated at practice on Friday and is on schedule in his recovery from a procedure that removed a loose body from his knee. Stolarz hasn't practiced since December 12 and was given a four-to-six-week recovery time, meaning he should be able to return in the next week or so. Stolarz's return will be a huge boost for the Leafs, as he was boasting an incredible .927 SV%, 2.15 GAA, and 12.5 GSAA. Stolarz and Woll will share the net and will both be viable fantasy options when the former returns.

Jacob Markstrom Set To Miss 4-6 Weeks With MCL Sprain
New Jersey Devils goaltender Jacob Markstrom (knee) will be out four-to-six weeks after undergoing imaging that revealed an MCL sprain. Markstrom was injured in Wednesday's game after a collision and will now miss the remainder of the Devil's games leading into the Four Nations break, which starts on February 12. Markstrom has been brilliant in his first season with in New Jersey, going 21-9-5 with a .912 SV%, 2.20 GAA, and 9.6 GSAA. Without him, the Devils will go with Jake Allen as their starting goalie and Isaac Poulter as the backup. Allen should be picked up by all Markstrom owners in fantasy, or by anyone who is in need of a starting goalie.

Filip Forsberg Extends Point Streak To Nine Games
Nashville Predators left wing Filip Forsberg extended his point streak to nine games during their 6-5 victory over the San Jose Sharks on Thursday evening. During this impressive nine-game point streak, the 30-year-old has scored nine times and added eight helpers. Six of his 17 points have come on the power-play. Prior to this stretch, Forsberg did not find the back of the net in his previous 16 games. Forsberg remains a must-start player while he continues this streak. He will look to stay on Saturday evening against the Anaheim Ducks.

Seider remains a must-start defenseman in all formats, given his ability to contribute to several categories at a high level.

Joonas Korpisalo Shuts The Door On Thursday
Boston Bruins goaltender Joonas Korpisalo stopped all 29 shots he faced against the Ottawa Senators on Thursday evening. The Senators had a slight edge in the shot total, but Korpisalo was able to lead the way. Morgan Geekie scored the eventual game-winner in the second period, and David Pastrnak put the game out of reach with an empty-netter in the final seconds. Fantasy managers should expect Korpisalo to continue to operate as the top option in Boston for the time being, as Jeremy Swayman is dealing with a "minor" upper body injury. Swayman exited early on Wednesday evening, and Korpisalo entered the game in relief. Over his previous three contests, Korpisalo has held a solid .937% SV and a 1.71 GAA. He could be worth a look in deeper formats as a low-end streaming option on Saturday afternoon, facing the Colorado Avalanche.

Chandler Stephenson Exits Early On Thursday
According to Curtis Crabtree of FOX13 Seattle, Seattle Kraken center Chandler Stephenson (undisclosed) exited Thursday's contest early. Head coach Dan Bylsma did not have an update on his status during the postgame interview and noted that the 30-year-old would go for further evaluation. Stephenson exited the contest in the second frame. Before leaving, he logged one blocked shot and did not get on the scoresheet. If he were to miss time, Jared McCann or Shane Wright would likely be moved up to the second line, and Tye Kartye would draw into the starting lineup. Entering Thursday, Stephenson tallied 10 points over his last 10 games. During this span, he scored five goals and added five helpers, with one of them coming on the power-play.

Bryan Rust Exits With Lower-Body Injury
According to the team, Pittsburgh Penguins right wing Bryan Rust (lower body) sustained an injury during their loss to the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday evening. Rust did not play during the entire third period. Earlier in the game, he tallied a primary assist on Michael Bunting's power-play goal. Fantasy managers should keep a close eye on his status before their game on Saturday afternoon against the Seattle Kraken. Since the start of the month, Rust has tallied 11 points in 11 games with four goals and seven helpers. Overall, Rust has tallied 38 points in 32 contests and is just one goal away from reaching the 20-goal mark for the sixth straight season. If Rust were to miss time, Anthony Beauvillier would likely return to the top line and have streaming appeal playing alongside Rickard Rakell and Sidney Crosby.

Jeremy Swayman Likely Unavailable Thursday
Boston Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman (undisclosed) will likely not dress against the Ottawa Senators on Thursday. Swayman was pulled ahead of the third period in Wednesday's contest against the New Jersey Devils, and Bruins interim head coach Joe Sacco told reporters that he was dealing with a minor injury. The injury appears serious enough to keep Swayman sidelined for at least one game, as Boston has recalled Michael DiPietro from the minors. Joonas Korpisalo, who has gone 8-4-2 this season, is expected to be between the pipes against his former team on Thursday.

Noah Dobson Considered Week-To-Week
New York Islanders defenseman Noah Dobson (lower body) is week-to-week. The team has announced that Dobson will not require surgery to fix a lower-body injury he sustained on Monday against the Columbus Blue Jackets. However, the squad will still need to spend a stretch without him. Dobson has tallied 24 points (six goals, 18 assists) in 46 games this season while averaging nearly two blocks per game. Scott Mayfield is set to replace Dobson as Alexander Romanov's partner in defense, with Dennis Cholowski grabbing his spot on the first power-play unit.

Vegas Golden Knights center William Karlsson (lower body) will exit the lineup on Thursday against the St. Louis Blues and will not make a quick return. The team announced that Karlsson is considered week-to-week with a lower-body injury. The Swedish forward was placed on Injured Reserve. Cole Schwindt (lower body) has also landed on Injured Reserve, and Brett Howden (illness) is a game-time decision for Thursday, so the team must make several changes to the lineup. Tyler Toffoli Returns To Sharks Lineup
San Jose Sharks winger Tyler Toffoli (lower body) will be back in action on Thursday against the Nashville Predators. He will return from a three-game absence to a second-line role, linking up with William Eklund and Macklin Celebrini. Toffoli had started to heat up before getting hurt, scoring in back-to-back games and notching four points in two contests. He has bagged 30 points (17 goals, 13 assists) in 47 across the campaign. Nashville has been below par defensively all season, which gives Toffoli a good chance to continue his recent upturn in form.

Patrick Kane Ruled Out For Thursday
Detroit Red Wings right wing Patrick Kane (upper body) will miss Thursday's Original Six matchup against the Montreal Canadiens. The 2016 Hart Trophy winner will miss at least one game due to an upper-body injury. He is considered day-to-day. Kane recently turned back the clock, racking up six goals and 16 points over a 10-game span. He has amassed 30 points (11 goals, 19 assists) in 42 games across the season. With Kane out, Vladimir Tarasenko will move to the second line for Thursday's action. The Russian forward is not a recommended fantasy target, as he's having a disappointing campaign in Detroit, logging 19 points (nine goals, 10 assists) in 46 outings.

Minnesota Wild defenseman Jared Spurgeon (lower body) will re-enter the lineup on Thursday against the Utah Hockey Club. He has been out for nine games due to a lower-body injury. The Wild captain will work with Declan Chisholm on the second defensive pairing. He is also expected to join the first power-play unit. Travis Dermott will make way in the lineup. Spurgeon's return is big news for Minnesota, but it will not have a significant impact in fantasy hockey. The veteran rearguard has been limited to 13 points (four goals, nine assists) in 32 appearances this season.

Kirill Kaprizov Returns To Action Thursday
Minnesota Wild left wing Kirill Kaprizov (lower body) will return to the lineup for Thursday's clash against the Utah Hockey Club. Minnesota gets its star winger back after playing 12 games without him. Kaprizov, who has notched 50 points (23 goals, 27 assists) in 34 appearances, will be reunited with Marco Rossi and Mats Zuccarello on the first line. He will also reclaim his spot on the first power-play unit. Matt Boldy lands back on the second line with Kaprizov's return, but he will continue to have plenty of fantasy value as Minnesota's second-highest scorer.
