The Baltimore Ravens selected Clemson cornerback Nate Wiggins with the 30th overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft on Thursday night. Wiggins is tall, long and fast with rare recovery speed at the cornerback position. "He has better physical talent than Devon Witherspoon, but he doesn't have that same level of dog in him. That's probably the biggest difference right now. I think Wiggins is the better prospect, though," according to an NFC national scout. If Wiggins can play with more decisiveness, he could very well become a Pro Bowler at the next level. The 20-year-old isn't very big (6-foot-1, 173 pounds), though, and he could have trouble wrapping up and stopping the run. Wiggins needs to get bigger and stronger, but early on, his elite speed will cover up some of his weaknesses.
The Baltimore Ravens signed wide receiver Rashod Bateman to an undisclosed contract extension on Wednesday that ties him to the team through the 2026 season. Bateman was able to stay healthy in 2023, but he was overshadowed by rookie first-rounder Zay Flowers and finished with a disappointing 32 catches for 367 yards and just one touchdown on 56 targets in 16 regular-season games (12 starts) in his third year in the league. The 24-year-old former 27th overall pick in 2021 out of Minnesota hasn't lived up to his first-round billing and has found the end zone just four times in three years. The Ravens continue to say that Bateman is going to have a bigger role in the passing attack in 2024, but fantasy managers will want to see it before they believe it.
Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers was allegedly involved in a domestic investigation in February, leading to uncertainty surrounding his status on the field in 2024. On Thursday, the NFL announced there was insufficient evidence that Flowers engaged in any activity that violated the league's personal conduct policy. That said, there will be no action taken by the NFL, and Flowers is free to participate in all team activities. The 23-year-old is on track to contribute in 2024 after a 77-catch, 858-yard, five-touchdown rookie campaign. Although he did a lot of his damage with Mark Andrews (ankle) out of action, the former Boston College star has plenty of ability and should push to compile WR2 numbers in his sophomore campaign.
Former All-Pro return man and wide receiver Deonte Harty signed an undisclosed one-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens on Wednesday. In his lone season with the Buffalo Bills last year, Harty had 15 receptions for 150 yards and one touchdown in 16 regular-season games (one start) on offense. The 26-year-old former undrafted free agent out of Assumption will likely make his biggest impact in Baltimore as a kick returner to help replace Devin Duvernay while also providing receiver depth behind Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman and Nelson Agholor. Harty is unlikely to be much of a fantasy asset. In his four seasons with the New Orleans Saints to begin his career, Harty had 64 catches (92 targets) for 793 yards and four touchdowns in 40 games (four starts).
Former Buffalo Bills wide receiver and return man Deonte Harty is visiting with the Baltimore Ravens on Friday. Harty is a Baltimore native and could provide some decent receiving depth for the Ravens in 2024 behind Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman and Nelson Agholor now that it's looking unlikely that the team will re-sign Odell Beckham Jr. The 26-year-old entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Assumption in 2019 with the New Orleans Saints and was a first-team All-Pro as a returner in his rookie year. Baltimore also lost returner Devin Duvernay this offseason, so Harty would be a natural fit in the return game to replace him on special teams. With just 79 receptions (113 targets) for 943 yards and five touchdowns on offense in his five seasons in the NFL, Harty isn't really on the fantasy radar.
