A.J. Dillon Still Not Suited for Starting Position

Philadelphia Eagles running back A.J. Dillon was the only other member of the Philly backfield to get any action in Week 6, carrying the ball once and grabbing two receptions in the loss. Dillon played just 14% of snaps once again, but seems to have cemented himself as the primary handcuff option for if Saquon Barkley goes down. If managers have Barkley and some extra room on the bench, Dillon isn't a bad piece to add just in case. But for now, that's his only fantasy value. He should not be in lineups for his upcoming matchup against the Vikings.

A.J. Dillon Still Only Useful as a Handcuff

Philadelphia Eagles running back A.J. Dillon once again saw himself get priority over Will Shipley for second-in-command in the backfield this past Sunday, but that meant playing just 14.8% of offensive snaps compared to Shipley's 13.1%. Dillon carried the ball twice for 12 yards, with one attempt coming in the red zone. It seems like Shipley will get more usage in the passing game than his counterpart, being targeted twice while Dillon did not get any looks. Regardless, neither Dillon nor Shipley are involved enough to warrant a start in fantasy this week.

A.J. Dillon Should Get Little Attention Against Broncos

Philadelphia Eagles running back A.J. Dillon was the lead backup for Saquon Barkley against the Buccaneers, being on the field for 14% of snaps and carrying the ball three times for 17 yards. Anyone in the Philly backfield not named Barkley remains irrelevant in fantasy, especially against a Denver Broncos defense allowing less than 100 rushing yards per game. Jalen Hurts will continue to take up a good amount of rush attempts as well, so Dillon is at best a handcuff option for if Barkley goes down. He should not see lineups in Week 5.

A.J. Dillon Should Be Next Man Up in Eagles Backfield

Philadelphia Eagles running back A.J. Dillon is in line to back up Saquon Barkley against the Rams this week, with new backfield acquisition Tank Bigsby set to be third on the depth chart. This comes after RB Will Shipley has been ruled out with an oblique injury. Bigsby is yet to get any touches with his new team, and it's unlikely Dillon will get many looks either with Barkley seeing 81.3% of snaps on offense so far this season. While Dillon is the better option of the two benchwarmers, he's still not a reliable starting RB in fantasy for Week 3.

AJ Dillon Gets First Reps Over Will Shipley

Philadelphia Eagles running back AJ Dillon was seen taking first team reps during the first day of training camp on Wednesday. It's only the beginning of camp, but it is interesting to see Dillon getting first team snaps over Will Shipley. Dillon was brought in on a one-year deal this offseason to replace Kenneth Gainwell who departed in free agency. Dillon did not play last season due to a neck injury, but appears to be at full health again. He posted three seasons with 600 rushing yards or more during his time with the Green Bay Packers. The 27-year-old is certainly capable of being a viable backup to Saquon Barkley. Neither Dillon nor Shipley figure to have weekly value with Barkley healthy, but both could be on the radar if Barkley ever misses time. Whoever wins the backup job could be a solid stash option.

A.J. Dillon Not a Lock for a Roster Spot?

According to Geoff Mosher of the Philly Voice, Philadelphia Eagles running back AJ Dillon (neck) isn't a lock to make the team's 53-man roster. Saquon Barkley had an MVP-caliber year in 2024, and he is expected to continue handling the bulk of the snaps out of the backfield. With Kenneth Gainwell signing with the Steelers during the offseason, the Eagles had a void to fill behind Barkley. Most assumed that Dillon, who inked an agreement with Philly in March, would automatically occupy the No. 2 spot this season. However, that may not be the case, with Mosher mentioning the ascension of Will Shipley after strong showings during OTAs. There are still some things Shipley needs to improve, specifically, his size and strength. All things considered, Barkley should leave little room for anyone else to get involved from a fantasy standpoint, so Dillon and Shipley should only draw draft consideration for insurance purposes. Still, as of now, it appears it is Dillon's job to lose, although he may need to step it up throughout training camp. The 27-year-old appeared in 60 regular-season contests for the Packers, amassing 2,428 yards and 16 touchdowns on the ground. He also had 86 catches for 763 yards and two touchdowns. Unfortunately, Dillon missed all of last season due to a neck injury, which will be another thing to monitor this summer.

AJ Dillon Signing With Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles have reached an agreement with free-agent running back AJ Dillon (neck) on Wednesday. It will be a one-year deal where Dillon will serve as the primary backup to Saquon Barkley in Philly. The 26-year-old is reportedly fully healthy after missing all of last season due to a neck injury. Before that, Dillon was the primary backup to Aaron Jones in Green Bay for four seasons. Dillon has rushed for nearly 2,500 yards during his career with 16 touchdowns on the ground. His fantasy outlook doesn't look great behind Barkley, but injuries do happen. Dillon is a quality backup and someone that can be counted on if Barkley is forced to miss time.

AJ Dillon Fully Cleared By Doctors

Green Bay Packers free-agent running back AJ Dillon (neck) has been fully cleared by multiple doctors and is ready to return to the field in 2025, sources tell FOX Sports' Jordan Schultz. Dillon didn't play at all in 2024 due to a stinger, but he's still only 26 years old and has 2,428 career rushing yards and 18 total touchdowns in his four seasons with the Packers. He proved that he's not really a lead back when he got the opportunity in Green Bay, but Dillon should still attract plenty of interest on the open market as a big, physical runner if he's indeed past his neck injury. Because he'll likely be sharing plenty of backfield touches wherever he lands in free agency, his fantasy value will remain limited. In his last season in 2023, Dillon had a career-low 3.4 yards per carry on 178 rushing attempts for 613 yards and two rushing touchdowns in 15 games (six starts).

AJ Dillon Lands On Injured Reserve, Out For Season

The Green Bay Packers placed running back AJ Dillon (neck) on injured reserve Tuesday, and he will miss the entire 2024 season. This is a huge blow for the Packers and Dillon's fantasy managers. The 26-year-old was expected to be Green Bay's RB2 behind Josh Jacobs and have a significant role in the team's offense. Dillon had 613 rushing yards and scored two touchdowns over 15 games last season. MarShawn Lloyd (hamstring) made the 53-man roster and is expected to back up Jacobs in 2024 with Dillon sidelined.
