D'Andre Swift News
Philadelphia Eagles running back D'Andre Swift took 16 carries for 130 yards and added one reception for eight yards during the team's 25-11 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The 24-year-old gained over 100 yards on the ground for the second week in a row. He averaged 8.1 yards per carry, led the team in total carries, and was clearly the best back on the field for the Eagles. Kenneth Gainwell ended the night with 14 carries but saw eight of those on the game's final drive, where Philadelphia was trying to drain the clock. Swift will always mix in with another back, his injury history dictates that he is kept fresh, but he is the clear top back for the Eagles moving forward and has top-12 upside every week. The Georgia alum will be a must-start against the Washington Commanders next week.
The Philadelphia Eagles are expected to "ride the hot hand" at running back in Week 3, per NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. Although D'Andre Swift amassed 175 scrimmage yards in a big Week 2 outing versus Minnesota, the return of Kenneth Gainwell (rib) adds an extra element to Philadelphia's backfield. It's worth noting that the Eagles are facing a Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense that allowed just 67 total rushing yards to Khalil Herbert and Roschon Johnson last Sunday. Swift should be viewed as a low-end fantasy RB2 while Gainwell is a fine FLEX play.
Philadelphia Eagles running back D'Andre Swift took 28 carries for 175 yards and a touchdown, adding three receptions for an additional six yards, during the team's 34-28 victory against the Minnesota Vikings. After logging just one carry last week behind Kenneth Gainwell (ribs), the former Detroit Lion made the most of his opportunity and absolutely demolished the Minnesota defense. There is no word on Gainwell's status for their Week 3 matchup with Tampa Bay, but with the extra days of rest coming up, it is safe to assume he will be ready to go. This performance will make it challenging for fantasy managers to determine which to start, but Swift made a statement Thursday night and has earned more carries on a per-game basis as a result. Both backs should be considered flex options, at the very least, against the Buccaneers in Week 3.
