D'Andre Swift News
Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift could be in line for a heavy volume of touches in Week 17. The Lions are limping to the finish line and quarterback Matthew Stafford (ankle/thumb/ribs) is a 50/50 to play this Sunday. If backup Chase Daniel is under center, the Lions could lean heavily on Swift to move the chains. He will go up against a Vikings Defense that is allowing the 17th fewest fantasy points to opposing backs but have been gashed the past two weeks. The Bears David Montgomery posted 146 rushing yards against the Vikings in Week 15 and the Saints Alvin Kamara gashed them for 155 yards with six touchdowns on Christmas Day. The Vikings have allowed 10 touchdowns to running backs since Week 13 and the rookie has nine total touchdowns on the season. Swift will be an intriguing RB1/2 in the final game of the season.
Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift carried the ball 10 times for 45 yards with four receptions for 25 yards in the Lions 47-7 defeat to the Buccaneers in Week 16. The Lions struggled getting anything going offensively as the Buccaneers bludgeoned their defense from the jump. It was 34-0 by the half and the Lions never recovered in the game. The small silver lining was that Swift amassed 65 of the team's 186 total yards as an offense. Starting quarterback Matthew Stafford did not finish the game for the second week in a row and his Week 17 status could adversely effect Swift's fantasy value heading into the final game of the season.
Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift will have several mitigating factors that could hamper his fantasy value against the Buccaneers in Week 16. In regards to on the field, quarterback Matthew Stafford currently is questionable and the Buccaneers have allowed the seventh fewest fantasy points to opposing running backs. On top of that, the Lions are dealing with a COVID outbreak in their locker room. The Lions season has crumbled and the team is currently in disarray. Swift has come on and posted a productive second half of the season but starting anyone on the Lions could be a risk in Week 16.
