Ryan Poehling Not Expected To Play On Saturday
Philadelphia Flyers center Ryan Poehling (upper body) is expected to miss Saturday's contest against New Jersey. He was injured in Thursday's matchup against the Islanders when Maxim Tsyplakov delivered a high hit to Poehling. On Friday, the Russian rookie received a three-game suspension for the incident. Poehling has contributed four goals and 11 assists in 43 games. Olle Lycksell will replace him in the lineup. Lycksell has been on fire in the minors but hasn't registered any points in four NHL appearances this season. The 25-year-old has recorded nine goals and 24 points in 25 AHL outings.

Brock Faber To Rejoin Wild Lineup Saturday
Minnesota Wild defenseman Brock Faber (upper body) will return to action in Saturday's matchup against Nashville. He has sat out four games while nursing an upper-body injury. The Wild have finally received some good news on the injury front after recently losing several players from their lineup. Faber averages nearly 25 minutes of ice time, so he's been a massive miss for the team. He should head straight back to the first defensive pairing and the top power-play unit. Zach Bogosian and Declan Chisholm will be used less with Faber back in the fold. Faber is fifth in scoring on the team with 20 points (five goals, 15 assists) and has racked up 54 blocks in 41 games.

He will be eligible to return to action on Jan. 25. Tsyplakov has amassed 19 points (seven goals, 12 assists) with a team-high 101 hits in 44 games for his rookie campaign. Marc Gatcomb has been recalled from the AHL and figures to step in as Tsyplakov's replacement this weekend. The 25-year-old has posted 17 points (nine goals, eight assists) in 35 AHL outings this season. He finished scoreless in his NHL debut on Jan. 14.

Andersen has not played since late October, missing time due to a knee injury. He registered a 3-1-0 record at the start of the campaign, allowing 1.49 goals with a .941 save percentage. We should see Andersen back in the Hurricanes crease early next week as the team begins a back-to-back set on Monday against Chicago. He will look to stay productive on Saturday night in Seattle.

Logan Thompson Shuts The Door For Second Straight Game
Washington Capitals goaltender Logan Thompson posted his second-straight shutout on Thursday evening against the Ottawa Senators. Thompson stopped all 24 shots he faced, which set up Alexander Ovechkin's overtime game-winner. Thompson has not allowed a goal in each of his previous two starts and is riding a three-game winning streak. Over his past five games, Thompson holds a 4-1 record and has only allowed three or more goals in one. During this stretch, he has posted an impressive .961% SV and a 1.05 GAA. Through 25 games, Thompson has posted a 20-2-3 record with a .924% SV and a 2.13 GAA. The 27-year-old should continue to see the majority of starts in the Washington crease, with Charlie Lindgren (upper body) still on the injured reserve.

William Nylander Snaps Skid With Three-Point Night
Toronto Maple Leafs right wing William Nylander scored twice and tallied an assist during their overtime victory over the New Jersey Devils on Thursday evening. Later in the third, Nylander would tally the primary assist on Auston Matthew's power-play strike. Then, in overtime, Nylander would push Toronto over the top with a game-winning goal, which beat netminder Jakob Markstrom. Nylander entered this game tallying just one point over his previous seven contests. However, before this cold stretch, the 28-year-old tallied 15 points (six goals, nine helpers) over his last ten. This was a nice bounce-back outing for Nylander, as he will now look to extend this offensive surge Saturday night in Montreal.

Erik Cernak Exits Early On Thursday
According to Gabby Shirley of the Tampa Bay Lightning, defenseman Erik Cernak (undisclosed) exited early during Thursday's contest against the Anaheim Ducks. The 27-year-old logged just one shift before leaving the game. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status leading up to their next game on Saturday against the Red Wings. If Cernak is unable to play, the Lightning would have to promote a defenseman from the AHL. Through 41 games this season, Cernak has tallied ten points (all helpers) with a +11 rating, 23 penalty minutes, 92 hits, and 23 blocked shots.

Marcus Johansson Added To Injured Reserve
Minnesota Wild left wing Marcus Johansson (upper body) was placed on Injured Reserve Thursday. He took an elbow to the face from Edmonton forward Connor McDavid in Wednesday's 5-3 loss, with Wild head coach John Hynes saying after the game that Johansson would likely be out for a while. It is suspected that the Swedish forward is dealing with a concussion. Johansson has picked up 16 points (five goals, 11 assists) in 44 games this season. His injury means the Wild are now without two of their top left-wingers and three of their top-four defensemen. Marcus Foligno will likely move into the top six on Saturday against Nashville if Kirill Kaprizov (lower body) is not ready to return.

Jean-Gabriel Pageau Returns To Islanders Lineup
New York Islanders forward Jean-Gabriel Pageau (illness) will return from a one-game absence against Philadelphia on Thursday. He has recovered from an illness that kept Pageau out of Tuesday's game against Ottawa. Pierre Engvall saw action on the third line with Pageau out, but he will land back on the fourth line on Thursday. Pageau has notched 21 points (nine goals, 12 assists) in 40 appearances while averaging over two hits per game. The 32-year-old also boasts an outstanding 58.6 faceoff winning percentage, making him a very valuable piece for the Islanders.

Jake Neighbours Iffy For Thursday
St. Louis Blues winger Jake Neighbours (upper body) is questionable for Thursday's game against Calgary. He suffered an upper-body injury in Wednesday's practice. Neighbours was back on the ice for Thursday's optional morning skate, but Blues head coach Jim Montgomery didn't fully commit to his availability. Brandon Saad is set to drop out of the lineup if Neighbours is good to go for the contest, with Zack Bolduc coming in for Alexandre Texier. Saad has had a difficult campaign, notching only 16 points (seven goals, nine assists) in 39 appearances, and is not a strong option for fantasy managers.

Samuel Girard Returns To Avalanche Lineup Thursday
Colorado Avalanche defenseman Samuel Girard (upper body) will return to work on Thursday against Edmonton. He is available for selection again after missing three games due to an upper-body injury. Girard has worked on the second defensive pairing for most of the campaign, producing 18 points (two goals, 16 assists) and 67 blocks in 42 games. The 26-year-old has some fantasy appeal, as Colorado also uses Girard on the power play, but he is far from a must-have player. Sam Malinski will be a healthy scratch on Thursday to make room for Girard in the lineup.

Ryan McDonagh Good To Go Thursday
Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Ryan McDonagh (face) will play against Anaheim on Thursday. After getting hit in the face by a puck, McDonagh finished Tuesday's 6-2 loss to Boston with only 14:38 of ice time. However, he will not have to miss additional time. McDonagh is the runaway leader in blocked shots on the Lightning roster, having thrown himself in front of 84 efforts from the opposition. Through 42 outings, he has chipped in with one goal and 13 assists on the offensive end. The veteran rearguard entered the week with a season-best three-game point streak before going scoreless against the Bruins.

Thomas Chabot Out On Thursday
Ottawa Senators defenseman Thomas Chabot (face) will miss Thursday's game against Washington. Chabot was hit in the face by a puck on Tuesday against the Islanders and will step out of the lineup for the first time this season. It has not been a good year for Chabot, as the 27-year-old has contributed only three goals and 16 assists in 43 games. Donovan Sebrango has been summoned from the minors to step in for Chabot on Thursday. He will join Nick Jensen on the second defensive pairing. Sebrango, who has just turned 23, will make his NHL debut against the Capitals. He has notched 13 points (three goals, 10 assists) in 28 AHL outings this term.

Roope Hintz Misses Thursday's Game
Dallas Stars center Roope Hintz (upper body) will sit out Thursday's game against Montreal. He suffered an upper-body injury in Tuesday's clash against Toronto. Hintz has not enjoyed the 2024-25 season, as he has been limited to 27 points (19 goals, eight assists) in 42 games. Wyatt Johnston will take on first-line center duties on Thursday. Following a six-game point streak, Johnston has gone cold lately, adding to his points tally only twice in the past five games. However, the 21-year-old has had a solid campaign overall, recording 31 points (10 goals, 21 assists) in 43 outings. Justin Hryckowian will fill the open spot in the lineup. Hryckowian has been a point-per-game player in the AHL but hasn't yet opened his scoring account among the big boys. He will make his third NHL appearance on Thursday.

John Tavares Placed On Injured Reserve
Toronto Maple Leafs center John Tavares (lower body) was placed on Injured Reserve Thursday. The veteran star was hurt in Wednesday's practice and will be out for a significant stretch, with Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube announcing that Tavares is week-to-week. This is a tough blow for Toronto, which has lost three games in a row entering Thursday's contest against New Jersey. Tavares has been a point-per-game player for most of the campaign, notching 20 goals and 22 assists in 44 appearances. Berube will go with Max Domi as the second-line center on Thursday. Domi has disappointed fantasy managers in 2024-25 and is experiencing another barren spell, going scoreless in six of the past eight games.

Ryan McLeod Scores Hat Trick On Wednesday
Buffalo Sabres center Ryan McLeod scored a hat trick in their victory over the Carolina Hurricanes on Wednesday evening. McLeod opened the scoring with a wrist shot to give Buffalo an early lead. Later in the second, he would score on another wrist to extend their lead to three goals at the time. Then, in the final minutes, McLeod earned his third goal of the night on the empty-netter. He also logged two blocked shots and two penalty minutes in this game. This was McLeod's second three-point showing over his previous three games. However, before this recent surge in production, McLeod tallied just three points (all assists) over his last 11 contests. McLeod remains a risky value play in DFS but could be worth a look if he continues this offensive surge.
