Chase Edmonds News
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are signing former Denver Broncos running back Chase Edmonds to an undisclosed one-year deal on Thursday, according to a source. Edmonds began last season with the Miami Dolphins before being traded to Denver midway through the season. In five games with the Broncos, he played a backup role and had only 26 carries for 125 yards, adding six receptions for 61 yards. In total, he produced 245 yards and two rushing TDs on 68 carries while catching 16 of 24 targets for 157 yards and another touchdown in 13 games (three starts). The 26-year-old didn't look good at all in 2022, and he'll look to bounce back with the Bucs in a complementary role to Rachaad White.
The Denver Broncos released running back Chase Edmonds on Friday, according to a source. Edmonds' release will save the Broncos $5.92 million against the 2023 salary cap. The 26-year-old started the 2022 season with the Miami Dolphins but joined the Broncos midway through the year. He finished with just 68 total carries for 245 yards (3.6 yards per attempt) and two touchdowns, adding 16 receptions for 157 yards and another score in 13 games (three starts). His time in both Miami and Denver was disappointing as a secondary option in both backfields, and he's unlikely to secure a lead-back role on the open market this offseason.
Although Denver Broncos running back Chase Edmonds could see a little more work in the Week 18 regular season finale against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday with Marlon Mack (hamstring) on Injured Reserve, he still cannot be trusted in starting fantasy lineups. In last week's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, Edmonds had 10 touches for 73 scrimmage yards, and he'll be facing a Chargers defense that has allowed the eighth-most half-PPR points to the RB position this year. However, Latavius Murray will remain Denver's primary backfield option, making it very difficult for Edmonds to make noise in a Broncos offense that averages a league-low 16 points per game.
